Persona 5 has Problems 😡

I LOVE Persona 5 Royal, but I do have a few problems with the game...

Persona 5 is one of my favourite games of all time as it has an AMAZING story with GREAT characters and really enjoyable, turn based gameplay. However, there are definitely some valid critiques to be made of the game as some aspects of P5 felt unfinished.

And while my criticisms of Persona 5 Royal do not in any way change how I feel about the game overall, there is definitely room for improvement for Persona 6 and future Persona games.

I recommend for first play through players to only fuse dlc and not get it from the compendium until you have previously fused it

The best way to use izanagi is to have him in your back pocket like a Trump card. Cringe incoming but then you can almost act like the main character is tapping into his power in a dramatic sequence and it gives the op persona a better feeling then just "gg easy"

I definitely agree with the Morgana arc being horrible I don’t mind his character in general and I feel like his overhated but god damm that story arc was boring asf and stole most of haru screen time during the arc

I always get excited to start a new game and play it legitimately. But then Izinagi No Okami Picaro calls to me, and then I always end up using him 😔

Agree with your points. I love the game as well and it became my favorite game of all time next to P4G. The best parts of P5R outweigh the bad parts so I sometimes just forget or ignore them.

Ah yes the dlc personas which are 100% optional and require you to actively choose to use them are one of your gripes.

Simple fix, don’t use the DLC personas 💁🏻‍♂️

You can fuse personas that are much better than the DLC ones and, in fact, you kinda have to if you want to complete some of the optional challenges. The DLC ones just require less effort to be good.

The game is cakewalk even without DLC personas. I only used DLC personas when brute forcing during NG+

Even playing for a 2nd time (base p5 being my first) I refused to use dlc personas until I was able to fuse them legitimately.

I used dlc personas in Royal only because I already played Persona 5.
Don’t blame the dlc (optional content not supposed to exist in the base game) for ruining your experience. 🗿

My rule with dlc persona's is I can't pull them from the compendium. I have to fuse them myself. Because if I'm putting the effort into fusing a dlc persona, chances are I could make something even more broken than them with the same effort.

I wish they had tweaked Oya's confidant to be something more useful after making treasure demons more likely to spawn at 100% security level. I WANT the security level high, don't make it go down faster dammit! Other than that, I don't mind the lack of balance in the confidants. You get them the first time to see the story then ignore the useless ones in NG+.

I agree about Morgana's story arc and it cutting into Haru's story. Since Haru was introduced so late, her character needed as much screentime as possible but she didn't get that time. Another change I would make to Haru's arc is having us change her fiance's heart or have her tell him off during her confidant arc. It was so odd to me that literally the rest of the phantom thieves stood up for themselves and fought back against their oppressors but Haru let the president guy take care of Sugimura. A lot of Morgana's problem is him not being mature enough to not take Ryuji's ribbing seriously. Everyone ribs Ryuji, especially Morgana, so of course Ryuji's going to give it back when he can. Don't even get me started on everyone getting pissy at Ryuji for daring to "die" while saving their lives. There are several story points that should have been changed or even outright dropped.

I wish they would have made the DLC personas their own tab so I don't have to see them mixed with the other personas in the compendium. Or ask me if I want them at the beginning and keep the offer open through the game. The game works very hard to make sure you know they're there and it's annoying as heck.

I played over 300 hours of this game and never got any dlc personas. This was my first persona game ever and I never needed the dlc persona and never wanted to cheat my way through so idk why others feel the need to use them, the game isn’t that hard the personas in the game are always good enough

Heh though to be fair that persona in particular is literally Yu's strongest one period used to finish off the true final boss of 4 so it's no wonder it's the strongest of the DLC persona I feel lol
