I get it, just think about ALL the extra work. This isnt pokemon, the MC isnt just a hollow vessel for the player, its a character that affects the world around them plot wise.

For starters they would have had to make alternate animated cutscenes with female joker.

Then, restructure many confidants and the character's relation with them, beyond the obvius relationships with the boys you would no longer pretend to be Makoto's or Ohya's boyfriend for example, and I can't see Iwai letting a girl risk her life in yakuza business.

Then change story beats to better suit the characters gender (Kamoshida is more likely to "take advantage" of a new female student than target them for abuse).

And even just how Joker got to Shujin in the first place. It would be harder for people to believe a young girl assaulted an adult man, Shido would have been laughed off by anyone he wasn't paying in a place as misoginistic as japan "you got beat up by a girl mister politician?"

It could all be solved with some clever rewriting, but its too much work for something that ends up being inconsequential at best and muddies the timeline at worst. But hey I'm glad the female joker design and female arsene got recycled in Sumi's character, they are awesome.

It would have been a colossal undertaking that Atlus wasn't really to do. I mean look what happened to the P3 portable port. They just ran the backgrounds through an AI image tweaker and called it a day.

Fun fact, if you hack a weapon that Kasumi can't usually use like harus axes or Yusukes katana, she can actually use it, when you normally hack a weapon on another character, the game crashes when you equip it

As much as I love Kasumi's story (Or how little story she got), I feel like it would of been better to make her as the female counterpart of Joker like the FemMC

i feel like they couldve added this by in the opening scene at the casino when sumire is with joker they couldve escaped together and then in the scene you get caught the one you chose gets arrested and the other one runs away

That's not really conclusive evidence considering that Joker's dagger could just be a place holder weapon during a time when they haven't finished working on Yoshizawa's weapons. Not only that, but Yoshizawa's metaverse outfit design is intentionally supposed to look similar/like Joker's so it wouldn't be strange for the early sketches to have Yoshizawa wear a version of Joker's outfit.

I don't have any doubts that the developers haven't thought about having a FeMC in P5, but it's too costly and changes the direction of the story too much considering gender roles will heavily affect how some characters treat the protagonist. They might as well be making a different game at that point considering the amount of changes needed.

I just wonder how heavily the story had to be changed with shido and everything. Can't imagine a 15-16 year old girl getting sued and put on probation for a year for pushing a grown ass man

Makes sense. They already added over 20 hours of new content. A new lead would have had to practically go over the entire script to ensure continuity of the female protagonist. Not a bad idea when you're making a new game with two protagonists, but a nightmare when its already established.
