Don sounded great for 75! Home Free was just amazing too. When Don received the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame he asked HF to join him and they did. Loved they all got a part and loved the boxes as this was during Covid and I thought it was clever. They also do a great rendition of Vincent with Don that’s even better I think!

They also did a cover of "Vincent" with Mr McLean. It is absolute perfection. You should check it out as well.

This song is about the deaths of singers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and radio DJ/singer J. P. Richardson - 'The Big Bopper' - in a plane crash in 1959. Rumor has it 'the king' is Elvis Presley, and 'the jester' is Bob Dylan.

Love this remake of this classic song. Can't believe it came out 50 years ago. Don McLean still has a good voice for his age. And love hearing all the guys take a turn in a verse. Poor Adam had to do such a long stretch of beatboxing but he nailed it. Think the song is about 8 min. long. Don McLean received his Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame recently & Home Free was invited to sing a portion of this song there. What an honor for them.
"American Pie" pays tribute to the loss of 3 legends who died so young (Buddy Holly, Richie Valens & The Big Bopper). A lot of references in the song are made to many artists from the early days of music including Elvis, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Byrds & others.

They have done another collaboration with Don McLean, "Vincent." You should check that out as well, so beautiful.

Great reaction! Every time I hear HF, i forget there are no physical musical instruments.

I think you would love their version of the song "The Driver", a tribute to the common worker which also invokes a music theme. Exquisite harmonies abound! Not reacted to as much as some of their more popular ones but gorgeous non the less.

Mclean said that he chose Home Free to do the 50th Anniversary version with because, quote, 'They GET harmonies.'

Great reaction Don had asked Home Free to do this for the 50th anniversary of this iconic song Don has calibrated with the boys a few times plus other big artists.

Every time Home Free and Don McLean collaborate it’s always amazing. They also did Vincent ft Don McLean and Don just released a new album called American Boys and Home Free is ft on the title track.
They released this on the 50th anniversary of the release of when the original was released
They won 3 Telly awards for this version and was invited to sing a small part of the song when Don McLean got his Star on The Walk Of Fame

Don knew about how good Home Free was. He invited them to collaborate on the 50th anniversary of the release of this song.

Home Free has done several covers with the original legends: "Elvira" with The Oakridge Boys, "God Bless the USA" with Lee Greenwood, "Christmas In Dixie" with Alabama, and (although I haven't been able to find a video of it) "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" with Charlie Daniels. And, as others have already mentioned, they recently covered "Vincent" with Don Maclean. Even when they're not working with the original artists, they still respect the original music, while still making it their own.

Give Home Free's cover of "Helplessly Hoping" a listen.

They always are very respectufl to the original but never fail to make them their own.

Home Free actaully did another one with Don McLean, called Vincent. They've released it in May.

Tim's rumbles are very noticeable in Blue Ain't Your Color as well. Also, Brothers in Arms.

Such a great performance by everyone. Home Free brought the joy of music back into my life. The other musician who completed that for me is Tommy Johansson, you should check him out. Try his cover of Winner Takes It All or Phantom of the Opera (where he sings both parts).

That was so incredible. So many added elements that were all right on time so to speak. To take on such an iconic song with these results is an amazing feat.
