How cool is it that Don McLean is a Home Fry and he actually called them to ask if they wanted to do the collaboration for the 50th anniversary of the song, which of course the guys said yes to.

Someone said that Adam recorded his track in one take and when he finished he was so light headed they thought he was going to pass out which isn't surprising when you think about 6 minutes of constant vocal drumming only to go straight into harmonizing. The boy is PHENOMENAL.

It's not a cover, it's a reimagining of an all-time classic. As collaborations go, this one's absolute top notch! Great react guys!

I remember back in Jr. High hearing this, the radio version, in 1971.
This is a cool upgrade.

Adam Rupp was non-stop in this to the point that he almost passed out at the end.

Guys, good to see y'all back with Home Free...their harmonies are just about unmatched. What a privilege it was for Don to ask them to help him celebrate this song on its 50th anniversary (Oct 24th, 1971) Feb 3rd, 1959 is the day the Music Died, as on that day, Buddy Hollens, Richie Valens & a guy known as The Big Bopper were all killed in an Iowa cornfield as their airplane crashed, on their way to the next concert. Check out Home Free's cover of The Driver, the harmonies once again will blow you away

Don looked up Home Free and asked them to do it for the 50th anniversary. Don sounded great for 75! Loved the video. The boxes reminded me of shadow boxes you keep your memories in. Loved all the black and white reels shown in them. So well done and yeah Adam had to beatbox for so long! Good reaction! I understand that Don was given a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he asked Home Free to come and celebrate. How cool is that?! 😃

I've seen several reactions to this and no-one has commented on Don taking off the "Buddy Holly type horn rimmed glasses and sliding them into his pocket as the song ends. The arrangement itself is beyond compare but I thought that little detail was a nice touch

One of my favourite songs. Brings back memories of the past. To cool to be ignored by anyone.

This was recorded in 3 different states during lockdown with the skills of Darren Rust.

Love this remake of this classic song. Can't believe it came out 50 years ago. Don McLean still has a good voice for his age. And love hearing all the guys take a turn in a verse. Poor Adam had to do such a long stretch of beatboxing but he nailed it. Think the song is about 8 min. long. Don McLean received his Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame recently & Home Free was invited to sing a portion of this song there. What an honor for them.
"American Pie" pays tribute to the loss of 3 legends who died so young (Buddy Holly, Richie Valens & The Big Bopper). A lot of references in the song are made to many artists from the early days of music including Elvis, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Byrds & others.

This is by far my favorite collaboration they have done. And I absolutely loved all of the other ones. Adam Rupp the beatboxer almost passed out will doing this song. Home Free went to L. A. When Don got his star and they sang this song. Truly enjoyed watching your reactions to this song.

Did you notice that the beatboxer was singing on the last chorus? The extra harmony part we get when he sings with the rest of the group is always a real treat!

Don Mclean sounds GREAT after all these years. This song reminds me so much of my high school days, and how awesome that Don asked Home free to sing this with him...I love your reaction as always.

I just saw the Home Free show down in Anaheim. They're so much fun live. They have a new album available for presale with a bunch of original songs by Tim Foust and Austin Brown. If you order the signed version, you can download the songs without waiting for the disk. I was able to pick one up at the show and I'm looking forward to a bunch of new videos from them.

This song really showed off Adam Chance. He takes a step back in a lot of songs to let Austin soar and Tim rumble, but I love his sound. So cool that they got to work with Don. I think this video was shot during peak COVID so they had to stay separate as much as possible.
