My heart goes out to him. I was in the same boat after I went from 263 lbs to 118 lbs. I did feel better until I would remove my clothes and I loathed the hanging skin. I was never able to afford plastic surgery. So I have lived with it. I would give anything to be able to have it removed.

I work in plastics and we do tummy tucks all day long. It is amazing what hard work dedication and courage can bring to you. We had one man who lost 300 lb and when we took the excess skin off of his body it weighed 29 lb. He then donated that additional skin that we removed to Shriners institute which is a burn clinic in Cincinnati and they used it for graft for burn victims. So not only did he look amazing but he was an amazing man as well! So I ask anyone out there who's going to be having a tummy tuck ask your doctor if you can donate the skin to a local burn unit.

I am so sorry he has to live like this!! That's so terrible! You would think the doctors would see how much work he put into losing weight and maybe they could donate some of their time to remove the skin! I've heard of cases where doctors do elective surgery for free or a lower amount depending on the situation and what the surgery is for! Maybe he should reach out to some of the higher in the hospitals in his area and try to speak to the surgeons to see if any of them are willing to help him with the cost of the surgery by donating some of their time!

And if you go to a teaching hospital like the University of Cincinnati and you request that they donate the extra skin they will give that extra skin to the Shriners institute which is a burn unit and they use it for skin grafts! Win-win! If you don't live in Cincinnati and you're not sure if it's possible please ask your doctor because they will have information on how to donate the extra skin. I was a surge tech for a plastic surgeon and the largest tummy tuck we ever did took 28 lb of skin off of the patient's body and all of that was donated to Shriners.

I'd like to see the results of the plastic surgery. Not sure the cost, but there are excellent medical facilities outside the USA that can do a plastic surgery 'vacation' for a reasonable cost: Costa Rica, Turkey, Thailand are a few suggestions, but do your own research.

And that should be included with insurance once you have that surgery done it should be part of the surgery the skin removal
