As a disabled believer, I get it. Sometimes we're left in a disability pushing forward in faith despite it. I am legally blind raising my twin disabled granddaughters. One cannot stand is in a wheelchair, the other is so high on the spectrum she's nonverbal, yet sings hymns without singing the actual words. If they do all God has for them inspire of a disability their lives may speak more than if they were not just as Nick Vujicic. If he had legs, face it, fewer would hear his message of overcoming. I'm an artist. Painting blind by God's blessing says more than if I could see to do it. As long as my infirmity is for God's glory I'm ok with it, because why worry about this temporary flesh I live in when I'll have a whole new model this one can't even compare with? I trust that God's timing is perfect. 🤟🙌🤗❤

You are spot on. We can't look at scripture based on our experience. Our experience has to be based on His Word and who He is. No judgement to anyone, but He is the Healer. Thanks for speaking the truth

Jesus commanded his followers to heal the sick and to teach THEIR followers to do the same.
It was not a suggestion.
It was a command.
He told them they would do the same as he did and even GREATER miracles!
I was so disappointed in this scene.

Experience (not being healed) does not trump God’s Word.
Friends, God is not the problem. There are many hindrances to healing: doubt, unbelief, un forgiveness, etc.

Luke 9:56
Jesus said about himself:
“The Son of man has NOT come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

The greek word “save” used here means:
to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
to save a suffering one (from perishing), as one suffering from disease
to make well heal, restore to health
to preserve one who is in danger of destruction
to save or rescue

Again,
Experience (not being healed) does not trump God’s Word.

I want to say this lovingly, and I still have some things in my body that I’m praying for, but friends, Jesus paid the price with his stripes. It’s done!

I was so excited because I thought, YES finally little James is about to be healed!! But no, Jesus says basically, it will glorify me more if you heal others in your own weakness. Ouch. “You’re a special case”. Sounds spiritual and humble, but it’s not biblical. This is the sneaky deception we MUST be aware of. it sounds good to the ear but it only keeps us in bondage.

Just saw this yesterday and this scene troubled me so hard. I am a huge Chosen fan, it's the reason I'm actually where I am at in my walk with Jesus. After watching the first seasons, it had such an effect on me that it broke a porn addiction off my life that I was bound in for years. My life changed forever because of the show and what Holy Spirit is doing through it.

However this scene mad me super upset. That's not Jesus at all. That's what the chruch teaches about healing. There's not a single place in the Bible where if someone came to Jesus asking to be healed and then he turned them away for a better "testimony". That's such a cop out response. Jesus would never say that to anyone. Then they quote Job saying "the Lord give and takes away", when in reality Job is only saying that because Satan has made him believe that God's the one doing it. It's so twisted.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys put out this video, it's been on my heart all last night since I watched it with my mom. I will always be a Chosen fan, but that scene was terrible, and I just pray that it would continue to get light shed on it.

Here‘s the thing. I’ve got the same issue as the actor as Little James on top of kidney disease. I prayed and prayed and prayed for healing. And had to have a kidney transplant. I almost died from the transplant due to complications. I got angry at God for it. I’d been faithful. But I felt he failed me. I felt he rejected me. But in my darkest moment God healed me in a way that I didn’t expect and I grew closer to God than if he just healed me in the way I wanted. If you’ve never had disabilities you’ll never understand. If you’ve never gotten a no from God you will never understand. And God will say no sometimes. Paul spoke of that when he spoke of the thorn in his flesh in 2nd Corinthians. That was what this scene presented to me and countless others. God does not always heals, so that He will receive glory. God heals and God holds his hand, regardless he does all to bring glory to himself and always in a way that we can’t boast in ourselves. That’s what I have learned in my own walk that God isn’t a genie that will just heal me every time and exactly the way I want. God is my sovereign lord and my Father. And even though I suffer in this sinful world I don’t have to let that suffering define me. I can respond to my pain through my hope and faith that one day I will see my Jesus and I will leap like a deer in his arms.

If you research the.story.behind the man who.played James you will find that he does have a disability in real life. This kept him from obtaining any good roles as an actor. Dallas hired him because he was perfect for the part and didn't actually notice his limp until after he was hired. Instead of rehiring or using the camera to hide his disability, Dallas decided to use it in the story line. As a parent of 2 sons born with disabilities, one of who is now with the Lord. I appreciated the scene ..it brought me to tears. I always believe that my sons can have an impact for the Kingdom not despite their disability but because of it! You are right, there is creative licensing, Dallas says so over and over, that this show is not suppose to replace the Bible. I mean Matthew has autism in the show...so you could argue about why he wasn't healed too....

Jesus healed them all! Your healing is an accomplished fact. Jesus bore all sickness and disease on the cross. Healing belongs to you as a born again believer.

I think the chosen had that scene in there, to help explain why some people who put their trust in God don’t see healing. Paul talked about a thorn in his flesh, that he prayed and God never took it away.

Well explained. Thanks for this commentary, I’m praying people don’t settle for this scene as theology and instead search out answers and land on videos like this. Don’t loose hope.

This scene may make comfort you but it’s not scriptural! I love the series but this scene is blasphemy and makes Jesus a liar. Nowhere in the Bible was Jesus unwilling to heal. He healed them all. I myself wrestle with an issue but I would NEVER make up a different Jesus to satisfy gaps in my understanding. Jesus healed them all.

Jesus healing an ordinary person is one thing, training someone to be a disciple takes a different tact. I'm going through the same thing and this spoke to me and made sense. It doesn't take a perfect person to heal people, we need to learn to heal ourselves before we heal others, and that starts by having faith in God that we ARE healed and need for nothing as God will provide all one needs. If you're not healed, there's a reason for it.

I agree, have also loved The Chosen, but was really disappointed by this scene and the theology behind it, or the way it departs from Biblical theology. Not my Jesus!

In the movie, Jesus explained why it would be better that James not be healed at that time, though if I recall, James was given the choice. But to say that all people were always healed is incorrect. Please note 2 Corinthians chapter 12 where Paul pleaded with the Lord to heal his "thorn in the flesh" not once, but three times which was tormenting him as a messenger from Satan. But the Lord's answer was no each time. The Lord told Paul that His grace was sufficient to save Paul. It was a lesson in humility and trust that God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8) and so Paul found strength in his weakness. Furthermore, others were also not healed. Paul who was able to heal did not heal Trophimus (2 Timothy 4:20). The lesson here is that even in our weakness and infirmities, God's strength can be manifested. It's worth watching the scene again to allow the lesson Jesus was teaching to sink into our hearts.

A few things to consider…Jesus earthly adoptive Dad, Joseph died Jesus didn’t heal him. He could’ve! Paul asked Jesus to take away his thorn in the flesh, 3 times but the Spirit said My grace is sufficient for you and My power is made perfect in weakness… But He was also healed miraculously when he was shipwrecked On the isle of Crete when a snake that jumped out of the fire and bit him …it didn’t affect him at all…he was healed! And the entire town came to know Jesus!

I grew up during the word of faith movement and saw many turn away because they were told they didn’t have enough faith that’s why they weren’t healed! But I’ve seen the most amazing kids with down syndrome show Jesus is love to everyone they meet and he chose not to heal them even though he they love him so much!

This scene was written to show people…that it’s not about us but the purpose Jesus has for us! It’s not about what we want but about his will! I am deaf in one ear but every time I talk about it I tell people the miracles that God granted me in my life to save me from spinal meningitis! So I’ve experienced both!

Look at Nick Vojcik is an amazing example of How his disability, having no arms and legs has given him a platform to speak the name of Jesus all over the world🎉! I’ve prayed for Nabil Qureshi, Who wrote seeking Allah finding Jesus a story about an exMuslim. He was amazing man of God…we prayed that he would-not die but he did. We even believed God could raise him from the dead after his death and everyone around him did prayed for him … but he did not rise yet but God is still using him!

It is not about US! It’s about Jesus working and living through us. We will ALL be healed one day… but sometimes our weakness is what he chooses to use! Many people in this world are watching The Chosen, that would never darken the door of a church! They are looking for Jesus but they’re also watching us the body of Christ! They are looking to see how believers act too! Are we full of the Holy Spirit… The fruit of the spirit …love, Joy, peace, patience’s, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control! Are showing them that? Are we salt and light? Or are we criticizing like pharisees, straining every nat and forgetting what is really important! I’ve heard Dallas Jenkins say many times this is not the Bible this is a show and we do what is plausible! And I believe because of what Jesus said in other instances to other people like Paul like me like Nick like Nabil what matters is our heart and is he using our disability for his good? Does our countenance and our witness testify to him? Or are we like alum… that just makes people cringe and walk away! It is essential that we be the kind of Christ follower that loves lavishly…everyone including those that aren’t healed yet!

In watching the scene, when Jesus asks little James if he wants to be healed. James hesitates a little before saying "yes" and says (and this is the key words) "if that's possible" James doesn't believe yet that he is healed.

I love this! Thanks for speaking truth! Im sad to see how many accepted this as truth rather than what the Bible says as truth!!! We have to stand on His Word and speak truth!! Appreciate ya brother!

physical disabilities do not make someone “oppressed by the devil”. god touched the socket of jacob’s hip and left him with a limp. does that mean god oppressed little james?
