After reading the comments, I've noticed that too many people are critics of this video. It's nice of Angie to take the time to be transparent and open up her home, her lifestyle, her meal plan to the public for FREE!

Number two, seeing is believing. The proof is in the pudding. Angie's slender and in great shape. This video is about what SHE eats and what works for her - per viewer request - to stay in shape. It's not about what YOU eat or what you think she should eat. As she's mentioned, she has a doctor that gives her health advice. I'm a vegetarian but I'm not going to use the comment section to push that lifestyle on others. Being a vegetarian, vegan, raw food eater, etc. is not for everyone.

Then there are people who are on the "Paleo" diet and they're horrified that she's eating processed cereal for breakfast when she "should" be eating bacon and eggs. That diet is not for everyone. If it works for you - great! It's not for everyone.

Also, she has a family, she has her own tastes, her family's tastes, and their BUDGET to consider. Having a menu rife with nothing but organic meats, organic fruits and veggies is very expensive if done for EVERY single snack, meal, vitamin, etc. I know I've tried it. If you can do that and pay your bills and keep debt under control - great. It's not for everyone. Eating organic and free-range and lots of produce is advisable if, and only if, you can afford it.

Last, most research has consistently shown one thing. Most people backslide and go off very restrictive diets. Not having a little candy or a slice of cake sometimes or one small bag of chips for many people (not everyone) usually backfires and you end up gorging yourself due to deprivation. It's actually smart of her to treat herself to some M&M's. If you can eat and not cheat ever, good for you! Everyone can't do that.

Angie, Thanks for this video. You are doing a lot of great things. Please take or leave this advice. I am a Registered Dietiitan/Nutritionist and run a private practice. According to the latest research, low cholesterol diets don't have much affect on blood cholesterol. Your cholesterol will not be affected if you eat eggs, shrimp etc. What we are finding is that carbohydrate drives cholesterol (LDL-the bad one) and triglycerides. The cereal you are eating has over 40 grams of carbohydrates which is inflammatory and not heart healthy. I know you are not eating much. Grassfed beef is heart healthy so there is no reason to avoid it or substitute with turkey. The newest studies now show that low fat dairy contributes to diabetes and heart disease. . . fat really doesn't make you fat unless we completely overdo it. . carbohydrate is what drives so much of this. . .

Great Tips Angie. I think changing the way we eat can be a daunting task for many and they try to do everything at once and end up failing. I feel the trick is to make small changes weekly. 18 months ago I gave up all processed foods and white bread, potatoes, rice, sugar and simple carbs, I was able to  lose 80 lbs. I have never felt better. I never knew I could feel better because I didn't know what better felt like in the last 25 yrs. Now if I eat off balance I feel really crummy, it isn't worth it. Now at 65yrs old,  I weigh what I did when I was 40, and that is a great feeling.

Excellent video on a very important topic.  I am 60, and am so happy that I love vegetables!!!  If I eat foods high on the glycemic index, I am lethargic and grouchy. Eating to feel well is the key for me. Keep on doing your wonderful videos on such great topics!

Angie, this is such an informative and comprehensive way to explain your personal diet and your "relationship" with food. You have such a great, slim figure it's reassuring to know you put in the work to stay this way. Thank you for sharing your ideas and tips for what works for you!

You make an excellent point Angie I think one of the biggest problems with weight problems is ppl see food as a way to celebrate life or something fun to do rather than it's just something we need to keep us alive! It's not meant to be something we use to make us feel better when were sad or happy when something great happens, lol it's fuel as you've said! Very valid point. Great video loved it

Angie you make me laugh so much, I love your sense of humor. "Apparently I need to be reminded that I'm over 50 every morning..." So true & so funny!!!

Way to go Angie!!  Such an inspiration.  I just turned 40 and have "highish" blood pressure and cholesterol.  I really need to focus on better eating habits and not use working full-time and being busy as an excuse.  Great ideas, thanks for sharing!!

Excellent point that we no longer look at brownies, chips etc as 'treats' and they have become a part of our staple diet.  I loved some of your tips and found them so inspirational.  Thanks for sharing.  ♥ Elle

Yes, "some eat to live, and some live to eat", for sure! Great video; it is nice to see someone who is still embracing a diet composed of all food groups, in healthy portion-controlled amounts in this crazy time of 'gluten free' eating, or 'diets that advocate not eating any of a food (carbs, wheat, dairy...). I am a retired nurse who has always been conscious of eating a balanced, healthy diet, and I am so concerned about the way in which so many people eat now, from either eating high fat, high sugar foods in excess, to choosing to eliminate so many foods or entire food groups as part of a really restricted diet. What we eat certainly affects how healthy we will remain, and I am worried as I see the rates of diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, etc. in all age groups. Thanks for sharing, Sherrey in Southern Ontario

Enjoyed the video. It's similar for me-I had to cut out the processed stuff as it drained my energy. I'm 54, and lost two sizes in the past year changing my diet and exercising (I use You Tube for workout videos). I started with My Fitness Pal, and quickly learned that whole foods kept me fuller for less calories-more bang for your buck.  I mostly shop at Trader Joe's, and my treat is their dark chocolate with almonds. It's awesome you were able to lower your cholesterol! Thanks for all the helpful tips.

Angie, I love your videos and appreciate your straightforward style. I myself live a low-carb lifestyle but obviously what you're doing works for you. You have healthy, glowing skin and a beautiful glowing soul (or you're a really good actor). :D Unfortunately, there seems to be a trend of people wanting to make their diet of choice a religion. You keep on being your fabulous self. My gain from this video is that I will add more fish into my diet (I normally eat mainly chicken) and add more dark, leafy greens to my salads.

It is amazing you brought down your cholesterol with the hereditary form.  I really need to work on this to get off the meds.  I look forward to the eating out tips video.  I travel for work every other week and gain a few pounds and take it off on  my stay home week. I don't like seafood or fish.  I need to get back to taking the omega.  Stuck in a circle!! You look great!!  Thanks, Diana :) xo

Someone may have said this already, but in regards to Salmon, look closely at the ingredient list. They are apparently allowed to call things "Wild Alaskan Salmon' but in the ingredient list I've found numerous Sam's Club and other stores list 'farm raised salmon' as the source. I've found it is VERY hard to find actual wild caught. (Sure you already know the farm raised is fed chemicals, etc.)

I'm a vegetarian Angie (for compassion reasons) and get to reap the health benefits!  It's just second nature to order at restaurants now...no meat product of any kind i.e., bacon grease, etc.  My husband eats meat and he cooks most of our meals and he's so funny about being so careful - in fact he's pretty much changed the way he eats from cooking for me!  Something else that is funny - some of his friends - when we go out to dinner, they peruse the menu first and try to remind me what I can eat before looking for something for themselves !!!  I can look at a menu for the first time and know immediately what I can eat and how I can make the menu work for me and what questions to ask.  If they have a salad I can eat.  And, like you, I do not eat for pleasure - I eat to fuel my body.  It was so easy giving up all meat, fish, poultry (and I was a big animal eater!).  patti
