Just got a 2019 Niro EX with the Premium Package. The MPG is amazing 53mpg here in SoCal where gas is almost $5 per gallon!!!! Definitely saving a few thousand dollars a year. The interior is really nice, here are some of the features: leather seats, power folding mirrors, power seats with memory, heating and cooling seats, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charger pad, apple and Android play, Auto emergency break sensor, parking sensor, blind spots, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, interior led lights, sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system. Great car and totally a gas money saver! Like this reviewer said "inoffensive"

Btw I bought mine $27k with 24k miles certified pre owned with 12 months bumper to bumper and extended 10 year 100k mile powertrain warranties all free included.

I liked how you put the trucks and larger Suvs and a van on here. Its a great mix. I work in a large factory and we try to copy the way Toyota does it. From the Kaizens and methods they use, I understand why they make such reliable products. The resale speaks for itself. Afterall, money talks

I have a 2021 highlander xle, it gets 22mpg at best but it is smooth and comfy and maintenance is stupid cheap. Worth it!

I brought a brand new left over Malibu LS for $18, 300.00. It has all the bells and whistles including remote start, tinted windows, 8" screen. With just over 2, 900 miles now the car is broken in, if I cruise at 60 mph I get 45 mpg and around town I get 34. The Malibu is a full size car that seats 5 comfortable. I spent a little over 1/3 of what the average new car is selling for, $45, 000.00. You can buy a lot of gas for $26, 700 savings.

Ford Escape Hybrid. Did a 670km drive, and the fuel consumption was 5.1L/100km. Very impressed

Hyundai has also come a really long way in recent years and I think it's a shame that the Ioniq, at the very least, wasn't part of this conversation. It's been a very successful platform and the drivetrain is now also being used in the Elantra hybrid.

It's worth mentioning a hybrid only pays for itself if you do a lot of city driving. If you do all highway you are better Off with a normal engine

Everyone in 2010: laughing at prius and making fun of them

Everyone in 2022 and gas price: loving the prius and wanting one

Oh what sweet revenge comeback prius has come 😁

Ive played with the idea of either selling my Tacoma for a fuel efficient 4 cylinder car, or getting one and using my truck when I need to. But I started to crunch some numbers, and I realized it may not be a smart move. My truck has a 21 gallon tank and a V6, and makes about 18-21 mpg highway (it was a little more but the front splitter was torn off). Its distance range is 385-400 miles before fill up, so the gauge says. I have worked at dealerships as a 2nd job, and obviously drove vehicles that were 4 cylinders which means it doesnt use as much gas. But I saw the distance I could go in one; 385-400 miles... The only real difference is tank size, and I'd be saving 20, if not less, at the gas pump at a time, so I dont know if trading out is in my best interest

You should compare non-hybrd cars that get the best fuel economy. Not everyone wants to pay extra for hybrid vehicles.

How is the camry hybrid do you think in term of the fuel efficiency?

The Hyundai Ioniq and Elantra hybrid are right up there with the Corolla hybrid and the Prius, and they're not on your list (Kelley Blue Book has the Ioniq as #1).
In your videos you have mentioned the Hyundai engine fires.
1) Hyundai has the industry's best warranty. Logic would say due to this, the problem going forward has been fixed.
2) My Toyota Corolla had an airbag recall (kind of important), but I don't recall you mentioning that. Maybe you did, but I missed it.
3) Most people know that most if not all car companies have had one type or another recall, usually multiple.
4) Yes I love my Hyundai--so does US News & World Report who has vehicles ranked every which way imaginable. They have Hyundai as the best SUV brand and Mazda as the best car brand (And yes you have given love to Mazda).
On your reliability video, which I give you props for acknowledging that it was anecdotal, you didn't even mention the Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson is the US News #1 ranked compact SUV with a higher reliability rating than the four SUVs you did rank. I get it, Hyundai is just hitting their stride so maybe your mechanics didn't work on them much or weren't impressed if they did. The company was only founded in 1967 and even the early 2000 models were probably primitive compared to their recent lineup. But you can't pretend the company doesn't exist or begrudgingly acknowledge it if you do. In fact, as another pointed out, this looks like a Toyota commercial.

Does Auto or Manual shift make a difference in consumption?

Hi Shari, great review and video as always. My only comment about the Highlander Hybrid vs Highlander naturally aspirated engine…initial purchase cost of natural aspirated engines vs Hybrid models would love to see the math on that…if the premium on Hybrid version is about 7-10K? I am assuming here….how many years will it take to recoup the extra cost for Hybrid. In addition, my local mechanic will not touch a hybrid vehicle. All this hype of Hybrid vehicles that we are narrowing the demographic who can afford to buy these Hybrid version and which shops can actually work on these vehicles. This is making the “The Right to Repair” act difficult to implement especially my PartsSource or Canadian Tire or local parts store to carry common parts.

Thankyou_
