It is eisegetical to interprete these passages through this notion Jesus chose not to amass so many followers because He needed to be brought to the cross. Where is this in Scripture? And how does it even make sense historically? The Romans would have been more likely to crucify Him if they saw He had a large following. They've done it to many others. It seems this pastor is reading things into the Scripture to avoid concluding God is not who he presupposes Him to be.

Calvinists think every verse in the bible is about them, the elect.
They wouldn't know what context was if it smacked them in the face.
None of the biggies seem to read the context either

Getting to know God and His character from close fellowship with Him and the study and reading of His Word, does NOT match up with the god interpreted by Calvinists. Test it for yourself over period of time.

The only "danger" of the Gospel of God's free and sovereign grace is that there is NO ROOM for man's pride.

The explanation could perfectly line up with "many are called but few are chosen". As in, many are called to salvation through faith in Christ, but only few are chosen to go into full-time ministry and closer walks with Christ. But that's for service, not salvation. When you think of it that way, even Romans 9 makes perfect sense.

And we didn't even get to hear a single word from that pastor. The title of the video is very misleading. That's being dishonest.

Matthew was a toll collector not a fisherman. Nicodemus was a Pharisee but believed in Jesus. God has mercy on whom he wants to. This guy has made no progress in truth.

The reality that only the few with strong will power will believe and be saved is sad. Can you and Leighton share some of your superior choice making abilities? Man, if only everyone could be like you and Leighton, everyone would be saved. How'd you do it? Where'd you get that superior will power? Maybe you can write a book, "12 Steps To Believe Like I did."

"Explains the dangers of Calvinism"
There was nothing in the video about this.
Furthermore, his argument falls apart once you realize that Jesus NEVER reveals these things to the Pharises, even after Jesus rose from the dead. Did the Pharises CHOOSE not to understand them? No. But to them it was not granted to know the things above; Matthew 13:11.
I'm open to other arguments against Calvinism, but his argument here is a classic example of reading into the text the things you presuppose if ever I saw one.

I know nothing about Calvin, yet, predestination and election is clearly taught in scripture. So, am I now a calvinist?
I used to oppose the doctrine of election, and zealously! But then studying this doctrine through prayer, reading and research I came to see that it is our flesh that opposes this truth. We don't like control taken away from us, it's very human to reject the fact God is totally sovereign and he chooses whom he wishes.
We don't like that, then we make up a God of our own liking, a God more like us.

2 verses alone, totally convinced me - first, no one seeks God, -

10As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.” romans 3

And second, what Jesus says here in John, verse 44 & 65 fits completely in keeping with above verse -

"44“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day" John 6:44

 "65He went on to say,  “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” John 6:65

No one can come to Christ unless the Father has "enabled" them.

Your problem is not with Calvin, nor me, but God

So, how believing in election & predestination "a danger"? I don't think I understand Dr. Leighton's point.

Leighton says ....If he had 3000 followers they could never get him to the cross.
God is never sovereign in Flowers world, but man certainly is !

Leighton, I know this may seem like just semantics, but it did not “hit your brain”, it “shone bright to your heart”. Like Peter, James, and John after the mount of of Transfiguration, they “saw Jesus only”. ✝️😇🙏🏼

Hahaha....lol....still no exegetical answer to John? Guess they never heard of all the "messiah " rebellions that were squashed by Rome before and after Jesus up to the fall of Jerusalem.

Your wording would be better to say that He revealed the truth to those who weren't blinded by their own egos-- and who were willing to share.
