Former evangelical leader Josh Harris posted on Instagram that, upon deciding to divorce his wife, he no longer was choosing to live according to Christian values: “As a pastor I, I excommunicated people. And you know I excommunicated myself essentially.”

I remember when his book came out. I never read it myself but it was insanely popular in youth groups.

Jesus said, "Follow me", He did not say "Follow my people ".

Its too bad so many people lose their faith when church leaders are human.

Josh Harris's book and teaching caused me so much trouble and pain and sent me on the Wrong path with dating and relationships. I believe his message was Never from God. God doesn't send people to Increase pain and frustration. A good minister sends Peace amd Clear Direction. I pray for those hurt by his bad leadership!

It startles me that people leave church for realizing they’re a sinner and don’t measure up to the law; that’s when you go into church. Jesus came to save sinners, if a sinner can’t go to church, that church doesn’t preach the gospel of Jesus.

When someone truly knows Jesus, they won’t deny Him because He is your life, your joy and your every breath. I pray like Solomon that he can one day return to his first Love.

If my spouse renounced Christianity, I still wouldn’t leave them (considering they remain a decent person). I gave you my word on the alter that for better or worse, I’ll love you. So, where else would I go? So long as he doesn’t deny me, I don’t think I could divorce.

Those who claim this man caused them to marry the wrong person are irresponsible and take a "victim" mentality. We all live in the marketplace of ideas and possibilities for life; we all follow a teaching or idea or lifestyle at our own risk.

many people marry the wrong person who hadn't read the book too, so? i been married 5 times and i never read his damn book. At some point people need to stop blaming others for their bad choices. smh

I was about 19 or 20 when his book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, came out. I was dating a young man my age, whom I was very much in love with. He read the book (I did not) and announced he could no longer date me. Even though we were both quite young, 21 years later, I still can't believe he took that one book so seriously.

It's sad to me...it's like he went from legalism to lawlessness. It just shows how desperately we need Jesus. We can't figure life out on our own. We desperately need His love and truth to guide us each day.

I read Josh book when it came out. It sounds like Josh was steeped in legalism, not true salvation. I pray that he will come to Christ and experience his grace and mercy.

I was appaled that he left Jesus. I read his book and inspired to become pure for the marriage. Me & now my husband practice that & found joy n peace in our marriage & relationship with God. Now me & my husband teach a lot of couple to save themselves for marriage and how to walk in God together with their partner.

I pray that Joshua Harris will come back to salvation and the way.
