I wish we had video in the 70s when i worked in a timber yard as a bench joiner. I was lowering a plank of wood like I’d done a thousand times but this one slipped right where there was a loose piece on the corner. It went through all four fingers at the loose skin where the fingers meet the hand. My hand was clenched in a fist and no matter what i did it wouldn’t open so i went to the yard office where the med kit was and asked for help. It took 2 people, 1 to prise my fist open a bit and another to try and pull out a 4” shard of wood the thickness of my second finger! After many attempts we ended up with Mole grips with me and Tom pulling my fist and Hugh pulling the splinter so hard that when it came out he fell over backwards. God it bloody hurt and got infected as hell within 3 hours. My hand was like a large orange so i had to go to A&E (or casualty as it was then). They pulled out about 10 or 12 small dirty splinters that had caused the infection. Like i said i wish we had video then!🥵😓😅🤕

I'm a carpenter . Occasionally I rip a piece of wood using my finger as a guide I get some good splinters . The longer, deeper ones don't always come out right away . If I wait about a week they usually shoot out with the slightest squeeze . Hurts like hell an feels great at the same time .

I had to use cuticle trimmers to grab a splinter that went under my middle finger nail all the way past my cuticle. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.
