I was a Corpsman with the Marines, on maneuvers once a marine came to me with a swollen hand saying "doc, something is wrong with my hand", I found a small hole on the hand and applied a little pressure and out popped a splinter this size only wider! I was shocked, he was relieved!

I had a thorn from a thorn apple tree about that size right in the middle of the arch in my foot one time. It got so swollen and painful. Mom always used an Epsom salt ointment for things like that. She put the ointment on with a bandaid over it for a couple days and I pressed on it afterwards and it popped right out, infection and all LOL. Man what a relief!

I got a chunck of glass, size of a big cigarette butt, been inside my foot, almost exact same place for 2 months, made three x rays, nothing appeared, latet they said it was transparent they couldn't see it!!!! Almost lost my foot, pain was excruciatingly painful, had a fever the last three days and started to shiver and feel sleepy, so I had no choice but to grab a gift, and dig it out with my own hands, I had no money for orivate doctors, no pain killers, no numbing whatsoever, and i dug about an inch deep, only to hit a pocket, exploded in my face with astonishigly high speed, a white yellowish sticky fluid popped like water from a hose under pressure into my face, and came with it a huge piece of glass. That was 30 years ago and since ever I still cant walk normal. Those doctors ruined it for me.
So you people need to stop complaining about your countries, you are privileged living in a rich country. Where I live, government hospitals are death sentences 😢

My mother had a tooth pick in the side of her big toe. My son felt it and said it feels like a round tooth pick. Due to Alzheimer’s and her diabetes she said it was a little sore. It never healed up. X-Rays don’t show wood so they could see it. A sore was on her big toe and I begged the ortho surgeon to please see what’s in her foot. It was a surgery! She was in the hospital over night. The surgeon came out set on the back of a chair feet on the seat. He shakes his head n tells me he dug deeper then bam hits a hard spot so he worked until he could grab it and blam she had a tooth pick that was covered up with cells and mucus. But it moved to the little toe by 4 months inside her foot. Lord he said if he didn’t pull it out he’d never believe it was possible. I just said thank the Lord you got it out. Wood will be digested by a non diabetic. Food for thought watch your sugar.

My mom was in a car accident in her early 20s, in her mid 40s she removed a shard of the glass window from her face one evening after rubbing her cheek.

Shout out to the girl telling the patient not to look at it. Sounds like she was a friend who knew his limits

My sister had one from walking in woods barefooted. We did it all the time. Stepped on a 3 inch thorn. We thought we got it out. 2 yrs layers the rest of the splinter worked out between her big toe and toe next to it. She had been saying her foot was sore about 2 weeks. It was just a black speck. Dad eventual pulled the rest out. About 2 inches long.
