A trick for the dryness: a professional singer told me she brings a wet washcloth in a ziplock bag and periodically brings it out and breaths through it to get moist air.

My sister & her spouse are OG flight attendants so here’s a couple tips from them…If you’re going to take a sleep aid, wait until you’re in the air. You don’t wanna be impaired or waste ur meds for a pushback to gate or mechanical delay, or worse, disembark. As for a gift for the crew, give it to them towards the beginning of the flight when there’s an obvious lull in their start-of-flight- activities. Something they can enjoy during their shift. See’s chocolates are always a winner. You might get an extra drink or pillow 😉

Also a big tip for everyone, Make list months in advance of anything you need to buy. And then buy it slowly, So by the time you get to your last two weeks before flying all you are doing is packing and organizing your things

I’m a flight attendant for a major airline and I can tell you that we really do appreciate gifts 😊
The usual ones are chocolate and Starbucks gift cards. Thanks for reminding me as I’m going to the UK in a week and need to get chocolates for the crew 😂

Seating PRO-TIP: When traveling in pair and picking a seat and the configuration is 3 seats in a row, choose your seat close to the back of the plane and choose the AISLE and the WINDOW seat, leaving the middle seat empty. This will GREATLY increase your chances of having the entire row for you and your partner. IF the middle seat gets occupied, that person will definitely by happy move to the window or the aisle. Me and my wife do this all the time and it works great!

Tips: take a low dose aspirin before the flight to help ease blood flow. Pack some “disposable “ clothes. Old socks, underwear, Pjs, can be thrown away instead of taken home. Then you don’t have to pack dirty sticky socks in your luggage. You also end up with a lighter suitcase. On international trip, pack a bento box and pack your lunch/snacks everyday at breakfast. You will have more $ to spend on dinners!

Lots of useful tips here. I had not heard the one about getting some exercise before the flight. It's going on my checklist.
Useful tip about selecting an aisle seat in a 3-4-3 layout.
The Chapter headings are clear and helpful.
And thank you, oh thank you for not playing distracting music that competes with your voice when you're speaking.

I prefer the aisle seat. I hit the bathroom a lot sometimes, and absolutely despise making people get up so I can go. I don’t mind moving for others though.

I prefer the back of the plane because most people hate it, and try not to book those seats, so, often there’s a good chance of having, if not one seat free next to you, maybe the whole row to yourself. Plus, it’s close to the bathroom, so you usually don’t have the stewards and serving carts blocking the aisle between you and the loo when you really need it.

Thank you for this channel. I'm a recently retired 25-year flight attendant, and, without a doubt, we love little gifts or passengers recognizing us for a job well done. It definitely puts a pep in our step (and if able, it might also get the gift giver a little something extra)!

Thanks for the video. I might add to your list compression socks. Those long hauls can be a killer and the last thing you need is to arrive ready for your vacation with swollen feet and ankles.

Thank you for your great videos. I have had middle seats on almost all my flights, that I have booked. I am an older verticality challenged female and on the under weight and very flexible side. It really does not bother me. My late husband was more picky, but he used to fly for work and had to deal with injuries sustained when he was a child that caused him pain when confined for longer periods. I can also literally sleep anywhere and go from awake to sleep really quickly. Being patient and kind with others smooths the road for everyone. A kind word, or a Thank you can make anyone's day. Thank you for taking the time to create these videos.

Kudos for the great video! Great advice. Last year on our return flight, my husband and I had 2 of the middle section seats booked from Zurich to Philadelphia (isle and the one next to it). We were happy when we found out the other 2 seats weren’t booked so we had to whole row to ourselves. I figured it was my reward for having the middle seat (out of the 3) from Toronto to Amsterdam and the guy sitting by the window, whom I didn’t know from Adam, put his head on my shoulder! 😳 Luckily he realized what he’d done and quickly removed his head! Our trip this winter (St. Louis to Frankfurt and back) I have us in seats where there’s only two together so I can use the window to lean against and the husband has the isle for leg room.

Awesome tips! Thanks so much! I like the appreciation ideas. Flight attendants do work hard and deal with our nonsense for long hours. Definitely going to do this.

I have traveled to AUSTRALIA 4 times, although not recently. I find QANTAS Airlines the absolute best airlines in the world. The longest trip of the four was a San Francisco to Sydney non-stop flight. Luckily I had a window seat about 2 or 3 rows from the rear of the cabin. At that location, it was only 2 across ( window + aisle ) because the aircraft tapered there was not enough space for the middle seat. As you mentioned in the video, sleeping against the wall made for a pretty sound sleep. Plus there was plenty of space and the rest rooms were only a few steps away. I really enjoyed all your videos - Thanks.

Thank you guys for your insightful video, although I have done many long hauls from Europe to NZ it is always a learning curve, with your video and especially the tips using the days before traveling to rest and hydrate, one could easily not think about that, keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more videos from you soon

Nice job laying out prep maybe add final prep. Mine - I pack a small cosmetic bag with toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, and light makeup (moisturizer, blush, lip gloss) and wake up an hour early so I can use the bathroom to freshen and look presentable upon arrival at my destination.
