1. wear loose layers
2. bring slippers (if you don't have smelly feet)
3. compression socks
4. bring empty water bottle and fill it up after passing security
5. eat what you normally eat (so you can poop)
6. take usual vitamins, probiotics
7. limit salt intake
8. bring your own snacks
9. consume ginger (ginger chews)
10. eat when they bring you food
11. try to travel at night
12. limit blue light
13. don't sit near the bathroom
14. try to get on aisle in middle section (3 - 3- 3)
15. put tray table down so you don't get awoken by flight attendant to get meal
16. put seat belt over top of clothes so flight attendant can see you have seat belt on
17. blackout eye mask/cover
18. noise cancellation headphones
19. bring correct cables to recharge phone/external battery pack
20. download entertainment
21. freshen up with body wipes
22. bring change of clothes, especially underwear/wear pantyliner

26. don't wait to go to the bathroom
27. get up and stretch often

I laughed when she said, “the really nice people” when referring to Flight Attendants. As I’m one of them, I do my best to be nice and have fun with my passengers 😊

Dude the first line “I’d rather spend on the vocation than traveling to the vocation” was mind blowing.

My wife is always impressed that I have a pen ready whenever we have to fill out those forms on international flights.

I traveled a long flight to china some months ago and I really loved what they did as they would not wake up anyone already sleeping to have their meals. Instead they would put near the screen a sticker with the note saying if they need something they can call them. That was really heart warning experience.

Forwarded this to my wife who's facing extensive international travel in coming weeks. Love your down-to-earth delivery and keeping humane, with frequent references to smelly feet and pooping. Thanks.

These are great tips! I always fly economy because I can't justify the cost of more expensive seating options at this point in my life. I definitely look forward to trying out these tips to make my travel experience more comfortable. 😌

My way of not making mistakes, especially when tired, is to have designated pockets for each item in my small carry-on travel bag, and also my backpack that goes in the overhead locker. Any time I take something out it goes back into that specific pocket. Once my hands were full when I was in the airport so I tucked my passport and boarding pass down my front, into my bra, for safety - but I usually do not do that so I really panicked when I could not immediately find them, checking all my bags and pockets. Another tip is to bring a small plastic bag in your carry-on (I just wash, dry and roll up a plastic bread bag, to recycle it). On the plane it can tuck into the seatback in front of you for somewhere to put the antiseptic wipes you use on the seat tray and seatbelt buckle, plus any food wrappers and used cups etc.
