She’s right be sure to walk around during those long flights. I had a stroke on a 10 hour flight from Europe. My doc described it as a “ blood clot shower” in my brain. Felt weird and disoriented when we landed but didn’t realize it was a stroke until the next day. Was hospitalized for two days. It was a major stroke with permanent damage to my vision and speech but I’m lucky it wasn’t worse.

I actually prefer to go to the bathroom when there is a small line - it gives me a reason to be up out of my seat and stretching my legs a little bit longer.

The bathroom lines get long when people change outfits etc. in there while people who actually need to use the facilities for the purpose they were intended for. Plus the bathrooms are so small your fresh clothes will be soiled while changing into them. You can change outfits at the airport as soon as you arrive - where there is more time/space.

Thank you for correctly saying “nauseated” instead of “nauseous”.

You usually cannot pre-adjust to the new time zone as it conflicts with your flight schedule. What works best for me is, get to the hotel asap when you arrive, nap for 90 minutes (set an alarm clock!), then immediately live in the new time. Works for me.

I was wearing a great pair of yoga pants ( not my usual wear)but very comfortable. The lady behind me noticed they were inside out. She stepped up and told me. I was so grateful ! I had time to use the restroom and had ease in reversing them. So grateful for that kindness.

Can’t imagine changing my clothes inside a tiny little filthy airplane bathroom. I would think the airport bathroom might be easier and maybe without most likely urine all over the floor.

Extremey lucky on one occastion to fly business class Qantas - found coming in to Australia that the bathroom (toilet) occupied by women getting changed including make up and hair before landing and the 20+ minute wait when you only actually want to empty your bladder inconsiderate - and that included being in a cue with both male and female passengers. Checked restrooms in first class and business class - same deal for the rest of us - long cues. It would be good to have change rooms on planes and leave the bathrooms to those who actually need them.

As a short person, I have the same problem with my feet not really even touching the ground. On my last long haul flight, I got a foot hammock. And it was a game changer in terms of comfort. I'm sure it also helped reduce the risk of DVD. I am not sure how helpful it would be for medium or tall people, but it is great for us shorties.

Omg yes! Staci I have been doing that "get acclimated to the time zone before the trip" for 20 years. People think I'm nuts as I'm getting up at 2:00 a.m Pacific. the day of my trip so I can be ready for the time zone in Europe when I arrive. But I tell you it really really works. It's a minor inconvenience before leaving on the trip for a couple weeks getting up earlier every day. But it's so worth it when you arrive and you're not jet lagged. You don't need extra sleep. You're not feeling sick for 3 days. Etc. And since a lot of the European flights from Seattle are overnight red eyes, it helps me sleep better on the airplane as well. I cannot recommend this enough.

These tips are so helpful for another country especially the part about blood clots. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! One tip I got from another video that helped me tremendously is something called Airline Pockets. It slips over the tray so you have a clean surface, plus it has pockets so your phone, charger, etc are right in front of you. Also, someone recommended having face masks that you can use to moisturize your skin several times during the flight.

We just did the 16 hour nonstop flight in economy from LA to Dubai then a 7 hour layover then a 4 hour flight to Male, Maldives then a 1 hour domestic flight. And last but not least a 25 minute speedboat ride to our resort. I did this without being able to sleep. Talk about JETLAG. Then did the same coming home. The Maldives was beautiful but I’m still recovering 4 days later.

Very informative, love the Anti Jetlag tipps! Just wanted to mention to be aware that in some countries and continents e.g. Asia it is not normal for a woman to wear leggings as a normal outfit, only for sports. If you dont want to be stared at by random men, i recommend wide cotton pants or slacks as a better alternative.

Get an ambient sounds app you can play on your phone via noise cancelling headphones. Drowns out the cabin noise even better and can relax you. Make sure you have a phone charger (my airline has a seat charger) or battery pack as it drains the battery. Worth it.

I have vascular issues and recommend Sockwell for compression stockings and Incrediware calf compression sleeves if you hate long socks. Your feet don’t swell and still fit in your shoes at arrival.

"it looks like pond water..." - For me THAT throwaway phrase was the highlight of an already very good video. TY, Staci :-)

We haven’t gone far for some years, but my husband always gets me up and walking around as soon as we arrive (it is usually mid to late morning when we arrive places). Stay up as long as possible and then do the new time zone. It is also the only time when I might get a sleeping tablet just for 1-2 nights initially.

I have had 4 blood clots.
My best advise is
Lots of walking
Lots of water
Lots of fasting

Ear plugs and ear buds with noise canceling is a must have and I can’t say as much to drink extra water 💦 96 hours before your flight ✈️
