Drinking lots of water before, during, and after landing helps a lot (no more jetlags). I always travel long haul flights every year and I have proven this to be really helpful.

“Write” lower case “a, b, c” with each foot. Put the free pillow at the small of your back as soon as you sit down

Taking a drink onboard with you, be aware of changes in air pressure in the cabin and open it very slowly, or you may wet yourself and others. If travelling really light you can still take a toothbrush with a bit of toothpaste pressed into the bristles, and a few body wipes in a ziplock bag, for freshening up in the toilet mid-flight. If you don't have space for deoderant in your bag you can use a cotton makeup 'wipe' you have run the ball of the deoderant over enough times to soak the pad, then stored in a small ziplock bag. If you don't like straight water or sugary drinks or tea/coffee you can also take a fizzy vitamin tablet for cold water, or a green teabag for hot water with you to be sure you stay hydrated. Take a spare extra pair of foam earplugs for your nose - no kidding! I once got trapped on a long flight right next to someone who stank of stale BO so much the people in the seats in front of me were commenting on it, and there were no other seats available. Sometimes other people's perfume/aftershave can be distressing, too. (You can wear a mask now fortunately to disguise this trick, I just threw my scarf over my head and feigned sleep).

Aisle seat is king on long haul flights

Add some electrolytes into your water on the flight. I buy a 2lt bottle after I go through customs and add in some electrolyte tablets. I drink that instead of plain water, coffee, alcohol etc. it stopped me from getting dehydrated, staved off hunger, and allowed me to sleep better during the flight.

Aisle seats and a great book do it for me.

Have gum for fluctuations in cabin pressure on landing. Take a medication to clear your sinuses also help to lessen the pain.

Any tips on how to sleep on a plane? I find it impossible. I wish more people would unplug and chat with each other. That would help us nervous extrovert flyers calm and pass the time. In the "good old days" this was what made flying fun....all the interesting people you would meet and befriend on the flight :)

Don't "wear" a perfume that is pungent, and liable to annoy and irritate passengers close to you, no-one wants to be reaching for the (sometimes missing) barf bag, even before the plane takes off

I am definitley into comfort for flying.I might buy some compression socks. I read to drink ginger ale on the plane. I fear my carry on will be too big! Still looking for noise canceling ear pugs.I always bring a book! I always have a blanket on flights.

I am flying economy class for 13 hours and I'm not concerned at all, I'm male, extremely short, I have my compression socks as for the air, i'm flying in a 787 Dreamliner with the revolutionary new way of bringing air in the the plane so the air is my more pure than the usual way of brining it in off the engines

7 hours isn’t what I call long haul try a journey of 24hours plus and tell me if your tips work. We Aussies know all about this and there’s no way to come off the plane feeling good/ relaxed after a marathon flight journey to UK or Europe unfortunately 😢

It's as if you are making economy class sound like a nightmare when it is what the vast majority fly and is more than catered for by airlines

Invest in earplugs & an eye mask. I once had a horror 14.5 hour flight we were delayed 4 hours & we asked for the emergency exit row - near the rest rooms. I don't recall any signs saying "please stand & gasbag near us." We were near the Restrooms so you can imagine the noise of people standing around waiting to use the rest room. This was my last time to NEVER not take earplugs.

"A lot of times passengers can't afford to upgrade to business class". Dear God what planet do you live on? Have you any idea what a small percentage of passengers ever travel business class? Look it up.
