My 2022 F57 (the convertible version of this car) was DIFFERENT!! Your F convertible may be different too. There are no access flaps. The plastic splash shield covers an aluminum skid plate(with access holes to the plug/filter). You have to take the splash shield off and MINI uses 8 to 10 security torx fasteners to hold it on.

Also not tomforget to mention is that after oil change run the car to temperature and check the oil level in the Car Status page. Refill if necessary.

Would it matter if you remove the whole filter without draining first? Will it just create more of a mess? Or is there actually a reason for it?

Interesting. In Europe the Authorized Service recommends 0W30 but, 0W20 is better i think.
