How to Set-up Ring Door Sensors (2nd Gen) in SmartThings

CUSTOM EDGE DRIVER INFORMATION:

If you install this Ring Alarm Motion or Contact sensor on your SmartThings or Aeotec hub via the SmartThings app and you did not download the 'Custom Device Driver', then the app will install the sensor with the stock ST Beta driver 'Z-Wave Sensor'. You can verify this by tapping on the device , tap on the three dots in the upper right, tap on 'Driver' to see the installed driver.

There is nominal $10 subscription for this package which gives subscribers access to over 30 premium website articles that contain Custom Driver links and detailed installation steps for many popular smart devices such as Aqara, Dome, Third Reality, Zooz, SmartWings, Ring Alarm and more. The custom drivers enable more features than the stock drivers.

After you download the Custom Edge Driver to your hub you must assign it you your Ring Alarm device. To do this go to the device screen settings, select the driver screen and tap on the option to 'Select different driver'. You will now find the driver "Z-Wave Sensor Ring" in the driver list. Tap on the driver and tap on 'Use this driver' to update you Ring Alarm sensor.

Thank you for the great Video! I paired the sensor with no problem exactly as you advised and it went great. BUT when I went to the website, Smartthings account, I do not have the Top row with MY DEVICES on my page?? Therefore I can not designate my sensor for proper operation.I am hoping you or one of you views can shed some light on this issue. Thanks Jeff

Thanks for all your hard work and information, your timing is perfect as I'm needing to move away from my Nest Secure due to Google's shutdown announcement. Based on your videos on the Ring contact sensor and keypad, I'm going to use my old STv2 hub and dedicate it to my new security system and just bring it all into SmartThings.

I do have one question regarding the contact sensor: Is there a way to make the button provide the bypass function as it's intended to do, inside SmartThings? After I loaded the edge driver and included the sensor, the button doesn't seem to have any function. It would be nice to have the button provide the temporary bypass the way the old nest detect allowed you to open/close a door without disarming the system. I didn't see any options in the edge driver, maybe a future update will come from the author or another 3rd party driver to provide this function.

Do I need to have a SmartThings Hub? I scanned the Ring contact sensor and it received and error stating that I need a Hub to connect to the device.
