Now that I’m retired and can wake when I want and make food in my own schedule this works great for me. Funny thing is that when I was white collar and in an office pre covid I got u by later and ate breakfast. Now that I have no reason to get up early I wake pre-dawn, get up and have coffee either sunrise and some light yoga in the sun. Breakfast at about noon with no carbs. My energy is great all day and my brain works better than when I was working. Wish I’d learned this younger.

I eat one meal a day so every meal is breakfast! The most important meal of my day.

As a diabetic, I agree. My blood sugars peak in the morning naturally. Breakfast as the most important meal is marketing propaganda from Kelloggs and dairy farmers.

Good luck going to a hard physical job in the morning with nothing in your stomach.

You are assuming that people slide out of bed and start eating. Breakfast is just that, "break fast". I break my fast three hours to five hours after waking. Breakfast is very important!

My rule is eat when I'm hungry, sleep when I'm tired. Don't worry about the time .

Some days none, other days up to a dozen eggs, just depends on how I feel.

I think this advice is valid only if you are at least somewhat metabolically flexible. Imagine you are overweight carb junkie. One day your reserves are depleted from the day before due to some activity, now you wake up, no breakfast. You go for a long walk, your body has no idea how to burn fat, where does energy come from? Basically you start sweating like crazy, heart rate shots up, you feel lightheaded and there is potential of fainting. Happened to me. Don't go crazy, I think this advice is missing one important part. There must be some prep work done for some period of time before you can eat no breakfast. First, learn to eat healthy without snacking, then you can skip breakfast. Don't do radical changes, just don't.

Breakfast is whatever meal breaks your fast; break fast. You have to break that fast at some point which is very important.

There's no such thing as a 'least important ' meal and, a 'most important ' meal.
The term 'breakfast ' refers to the fact you've been fasting while asleep, when you eat upon waking, you're "breaking the fast".
Regardless when you eat, it can be described as your 'breakfast '.
And during the night, your liver doesn't switch off, it stills supplies your body with glucose while you sleep, after all, you replenish yourself during sleep.
And if you go without food for too long, your brain will signal to go into ' fight or, flight ', and you will release Adrenaline and, Cortisol into the bloodstream - two very catabolic Hormones, that causes muscle tissue to breakdown.
Get some Protein/fats in you within 30 minutes of waking up, this also gives your metabolism a good kick into action!

This makes sense. Cave men have to hunt and forage for breakfast. Having food in your cave would attract rats and wolves and ants

Not sure this is for everyone. The counter is that having to eat a larger portion closer to bed may raise you're r nighttime average glucose. Like everything, to each there own. I monitor mine with CGM so I know what works best for me.

I never eat breakfast. I never have an appetite in the morning. There was a time when I forced myself to eat breakfast, because if I don’t I would start to feel very hungry from 10:30am but lunch time would not start until 12am where I worked. But after doing a carnivore diet with fasting I don’t feel hungry every time it’s breakfast/lunch/dinner anymore. I realize eating too many times a day put a lot of burden on your body, unless you’re very physically active and burn energy all the time. I’m not on a carnivore diet anymore though. It’s not a diet for me. Now meat is 80-90% of my diet and I do eat some of my favorite plant foods besides meat.

My daughter has type 1 diabetes and her continuous glucose monitor shows me what is being said here. Dawn phenomenon, perhaps? Her sugars spike in the morning having no food at all.

Don't eat little and often... two meals a day is perfect... Give your guts a rest... once you eat... go for a walk which seriously reduces a blood sugar spike... Fasting for the body has amazing effects and it's that time when the most stem cells are created by the human body...
