I dated a man who apologized all the time for things he had no reason to be sorry for. We talked about it and he tried to stop. Then I met his Mother and realized why he did it. His mother was brutal and in her eyes everything that she didn't achieve in life was her sons fault.
I defended him to his mother which shocked her. Very sad situation.
