Microsoft made a blog post again this week, this means a lot of users are still stuck!

I did Updates today and after months of KB5034441 continually downloading/attempting to install and failing, I was shocked that it wasn't even in the Queue this time around.
Looked in my history and it wasn't there as having successfully installed - strangely, there is also no longer a record in the history of it having failed so many times.
I figured that perhaps MS finally gave up on it and took it out of the Update Queue.
I know how to resize partitions but refused to do it because MS isn't paying me to do QA 😂

You are right. It causes panic for no reason. That Microsoft doesn't fix this KB mess up for unsavvy users, tells al you need to know about how much they care for their customers.

Luckily, KB5034441 installed okay for me. I am on Windows 10 22H2 Pro with bitlocker enabled.

MS eventually fixed it for me with a later update. Have the show/hide if I ever need it in the future. Thanks.

The recovery partition should be domething like 680mb or greater. Anything 500mb most likely mean that the winre.wim is too big to fit the partition when trying to update it.

Hmmm, since the latest updates, which I installed today, I do not see the KB5034441 anymore!! It's not in my Update history either. Fingers crossed!

Mine has been hidden for so long that I forgot it existed. Insane that it's still not fixed

Thanks for keeping us informed! Do you know if formatting PC, solves this problem, via bypassing this sort of update? It's been 2 days after formatting my PC. Till now OS is shown as updated. Installing updates till now i can see the last one which is 2024-07... So the system bypassed this KB441 without increasing recovery partition (it shows 509 MB)...

The problem is that, even after hiding the update using the show/hide tool, KB5034441 would just come back from the grave automatically and reappear in Windows Update. That's exactly the case of my Windows 10 machine. Every time when KB5034441 recurs, I'm forced to hide it again, and have already done the same thing for a dozen of times. What's the reason for that? Is it some kind of bug in the show/hide tool itself? I really hope that you could make a video about this "re-emerging KB5034441" issue.

Microsoft does not care about the regular user they just think everyone is tech savey when the majority of users don’t know how to run as admin install a program etc. thankfully I am a tech person I know how to do that however I never play with the registry. I do have a question does system restore put the system registry back the way it was before I change it or would I have to install windows again ?

I subscribed back then on Microsoft official help forums on a couple of threads, I just unsubscribed few days ago because it became annoying to see still today a lot of people downloading 3rd party software, making wishy washy things to their partitions, trying to fix this, a lot that claims “this is the solution” (nothing works for everyone)… I have linked them to your old video like 3 times and idk why they just don’t hide it and insist obsessed to install it.

Personally, Microsoft should fix this. They’re responsible. There’s a lot of Text at Microsoft. Why do they have to act dumb. I mean, one of the smartest companies in the world acting dumb. Here’s why I think they should fix it and why another commentor said maybe they couldn’t genuinely fix it because of computers being a little different well here’s the thing. Fixed it I had to reinstall windows on a computer and when I reinstalled windows on the computer, apparently they must’ve updated the image. When I updated the image, I found that it installed the update just fine. What they did was they? I guess when the computer started the installation process, it made a bigger recovery partition. Big enough to fit the update to make it work. Updating the image means I went to the Microsoft creation, tool page and re-created the windows installation media. An upgraded version I guess that contains the fixes for this. So that’s how I did it so I just decided to do it on all my machines I was bored anyway and had nothing to do so why not just do some cleanup. Now what should happen is Microsoft should say OK this machine I see has a partition that is 526 MB that’s what I think it was before this. OK let’s run a script and disable it and re-create the partition with a bigger partition and then we can do the update so it should be included in the update for some and for those who have recovery partitions that are bigger, it’ll see that and say OK I don’t need to do that. I can just update it. Microsoft is quite capable of being able to do this, but they’re choosing not to. How dumb can you get. You call yourself one of the best technology developing businesses but yet you’re choosing not to do. It’s important. Now the reason why I’m guessing that people who don’t have the issue probably have a recovery partition, big enough that it doesn’t need to worry about it so it’s gonna install just fine. But I fooled around with trying to recover the partition make a little bigger I got nowhere. But like I said I was bored so I decided to play around. Then just for an experiment because I got more bored. I decided to reinstall windows and just see if that would fix it and it did. It wouldn’t do it earlier because the image wasn’t updated back then but when the image updated I guess, they were able to include the bigger partition when I reinstalled windows with the newest windows creation tool stuff. So why can’t they do that with the windows update here release the same update with the capabilities that will either enlarge the partition may be by another 20 MB if you’re using standard windows or just not worry about it if the partitions big enough. So there are options but Microsoft just needs to get off their lazy you know What’s and get it done stop pushing services we don’t need and take care of your customers. I know we only have like a year left of windows 10 and a lot of of us are going to go to Windows 11 but still for that year do something about it. What I’d like to know is they gonna release another bit locker updates that’s gonna cause another problem? That’ll be interesting. But who knows. Microsoft to do what they want when they want without any regard to us I know that as an user of windows who is blind, Microsoft did us a bit of a presentation at one of their conventions and every question that somebody asked all they said was contact our website contact our answer desk, cause that just shows me that you can’t trust them. If they’re saying contact the answer desk or contact the Microsoft accessibility helpdesk or the website of Accessibility then that means they don’t wanna discuss it so why are you even here and why can’t you answer questions. Instead, they wanna describe what they look like. I don’t care what they look like. I’m blind. I’m here to listen to you talk about windows and Accessibility not to hear what you look like so why don’t you answer some questions and instead of referring everyone being lazy and not wanting to talk about things and keep referring people to the answer desk or the accessibility websites, do your job people. OK, that’s enough ranting for today. But this applies to the site of community with this particular update as well. Cited users should be able to not be redirected to a page or something where you can automatically just read your own stuff. So this goes for every Microsoft user blind or sided or low vision or whatever disability, you may have, let’s take care of our customers so that we can keep them happy so we can trust Microsoft again. My opinion

Thanks for this info. Of course earlier on they were basically telling their users to go under the hood with a series of partition commands which for most users is not only terrifying but if they did try it and made a mistake that would be it. I hate Microsoft and my feelings towards Apple are not much better. Going to try one of the Linux distributions if I can get my act together.

They probably genuinely cannot fix the update, since they are required to release patches for certain features in Windows. And what I assume is that those updates can only be shipped to all Windows versions and not specific ones, so they might have a point.
