Long Island New York is still one of the most segregated areas in the country. When looked into they found that 9 of the 12 major realtor groups discriminated against clients. The 3 that didn’t were the most expensive think Gale Soberthy’s. A big part of it is also self segregation, people leave the city and move to communities of similar people.

I was a new homeowner doing yard work when a blk lady walking past said hello & asked if i lived here. I said yes. She said Oh. I didnt know they are now letting blk people buy on this str. She said she grew up nearby & said there it was an unwritten rule the homeowners on that street would only sell to other whts for many yrs. I bought from the grandchildren of a couple who had lived there for many yrs but died. This was within the last 10 yrs.

A "friend" of several years told me straight up he never liked me, all the nice things and friendly acts he ever did were just him glazing me and refused to have a normal conversation about it without insulting me, making fun of me or saying some cryptic stuff about his predestined role in the group not allowing him to say sorry whoch he refused to explain further. Not having a manipulator like that in my life

Surely the low crime rates are to do with having a tight knit community and medium income households.

Someone dm'd me on social media the other day. Complete stranger. Just hopped into my dms and started chatting like we had known each other for years. I said, quite reasonably i thought, "hey do i know you?" And they went "haha you're wild" and i was like "i dont think i know you. Can i help you with something" and they just replied with some unhinged sentence that didnt actually make any sense, and i was like ok either this is a bot with a broken language training model or this guy is actually insane, so i blocked them

Your wife worked in the industry and didn’t know that the term “realtor office” isn’t a real thing or that she didnt know that redlining is a completely different industry? I see why she failed, lol.

Red lining is when the lending company refuses to lend in certain areas

Back in the days of segregation in Buffalo, NY there were an African-American doctor and his lawyer wife. They would buy a house in a white area through their holding company. Their white employee signed the papers. Then they and their kids would show up wearing ragged dirty clothes and start moving junk furniture into the house. "Hi dere! We yo' new neighbors!"
"For Sale" signs popped up like toadstools after a rain. The doctor and his wife would buy those houses at fire-sale prices through their holding company. Then they would move out, and flip those houses for a tidy profit.
Before anybody asks, this is called "blockbusting" and is indeed illegal. And they did this during the summer when their kids were off school. They never actually moved out of their very nice townhouse in what later became the 'hood.

Racism or pragmatism? Its a small line between, but also there are reasons why "in the hood" more crimes than in such a neighbourhood. But, its easy to call all what seems unfair calling racism. Easier than to look what else it could be and why.

That is a great selling point, and sounds like a beautiful neighborhood
