It's crazy how we have all these do's and don'ts and restrictions, but they're definitely worth it for GOOD results! Thanks for the tips.

Your voice sounds great along with your points. I agree with the dirty hair. A hairdresser once told my mom the same thing, so I live by that. I also love that top, It is so unique!

Love love love your gorgeous it looks very nice on you especially with your hair down. As I have not been burned since probably the early to mid 90s when I had different hairstylists and didn't realize how dangerous scalp burns can be, I have since found not only a top notch hair specialist who applies my relaxers well but I am faithful about applying BASE to the scalp. You know It's the petroleum like scalp protector applied prior to relaxers to the scalp as a protectant. I haven't heard you mention it but as opposed to having my scalp based at the salon just prior to the relaxer, most times I apply base to my own hair the night before the salon appt. and sleep overnight in it.

I simply section my hair into 4 sections and clip them up. I gently part each section from a clipped section row by row with the end of a rat tail comp and with my finger, I dip into the base and wipe it on the parted scalp section like grease. After each section is completed, I twist it into a knot with a bobby pin. So i end up with 4 bobby pinned knots and cover with several satin scarves and satin bonnet and go to sleep. In the morning before I leave out, I put some type of half way presentable cap or hat on over my layered head covering that I slept in and head to the salon. When I get to the salon, I only have them base my perimeter (hairline of back of head, ears, and front) because that would be too messy on my pillow if I based my hairline. My stylist simply undoes each bobby pinned section and does her thing. I never combed my hair while basing but only parted with the end of the rat tail comb. So really there are no major tangles for her to contend with. I feel sleeping in that base overnight extra protects my scalp because it;s on for long, It works for me. Scalp base is important.

Great Video I also use the coconut oil on my ends before it's relaxed!

I think my scalp is made of iron because I can scratch it (not roughly) and wash it the day before a relaxer and I never get burns, lol. Great tips!! :)

I have relaxed but awfully damaged hair. I've been making all the mistakes that you've warned about! Because of this video I now know how to take care of my hair. Am in Nairobi Kenya.

Hey beauty, if I relax my hair for the first time (I have 4a to 4c hair) and dont wash it for a week, I need to put in leave in conditioner or maybe some oil. Is this recommendet or the hair needs to be free from any product?
Thanks xoxo

All great tips! I also lesson or avoid large amounts of caffeine at least a day or two before my relaxer. Really helps me.
