Konmari Your Life: Tidying Tips from Marie Kondo

Don’t miss your chance to meet Japanese tidying guru and international best-selling author Marie Kondo and pick up tips for transforming your home into a happy, organized space! Named one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential People in the World in 2015, Marie developed a home-organizing method that has taken the world by storm. Attendees will receive a copy of her new book, Spark Joy, a comprehensive, illustrated manual on how to declutter every room in the house. In the new volume Marie also addresses lingering questions, such as what to do with those necessary objects that do not spark joy in our lives. The talk will be moderated by New York Times Style columnist Molly Young. Followed by a book-signing reception.

This interpreter is loads better than the google talks woman. This should be the most viewed video. I actually play this video in the background as I tidy my room.

No wonder I love walking into my house. I started cleaning up my act years ago. My home is so peaceful and full of joy. Thanks to God. I love Marie's tidying methods and was able to apply them in my bedroom drawers. They were already tidy but her method in the best. God bless her.

She is the most adorable person I have ever seen. So well mannered - I love the way she keeps looking at the interviewer when the translation is taking place. The translator is excellent- I hope she is always with her. At 67 I am still learning new tidying methods. Does it Spark Joy - that is the way to go. Love her

It’s so great to see her speak. Her Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up book changed my life many years ago.

I've listened to a bunch of her interviews and though I don't know any Japanese this seems to have been the best interpreter. The comments from people who understand the language confirms what I was thinking. Great interview!

Great interviewer! Very calm and responds to the flow of the conversation and still poses her questions that she prepared. She understands the focus is on the guest, which also is reflected in her black clothing. Great job!

Came here to cleanse my eyes and ears after some episodes of the "Get Organized with The Home Edit" show on Netflix. Good for "The Home Edit" that what they do works for them and their clients but it's so standoffish how rich celebs evade their own messes, glamorous hoards only the wealthy can pull off and hire people to create cold and surgical spaces for the satisfaction of the sight, but where's the emotional connection?

I praise Marie Kondo for helping me slowly build a bond with everything I own which also helps me to consider before buying something if it will actually bring me joy. Her humanist approach is a healthy alternative to the organization of our homes and has a more profound impact when we reflect and wonder what decisions spark joy in our lives.

Remember that the Konmari method is nowhere near apathetic minimalism contemporary trends, is a method that expects you to be respectful and grateful for your house and belongings. Not to just throw away but to embrace and organize your crazy collections when they truly spark joy in you.

I'm so happy and grateful to have learned Ms. Marie Kondo only though through online. She really helped me and those around me not only materialistically but also emotionally! I realized that I was shrugging off the dust and the grandized view of my parents when I saw how few stuff which I thought were valuable which I received from my parents were actually not. I felt great in a new way.

Everything about this is amazing.  I've told tons of people about this, and they are all the same - their eyes open wide and they proclaim "That's exactly what I need to do!" I'm a rough 'n tough guy, but this is serene enlightenment.

What a fantastic presentation! I have been inspired to use Marie Kondo’s method as it makes so much sense...the order (clothes, books...)...the connecting with the joy an object gives...the gratitude for faithful service of things you let go of. I start with my clothes tomorrow morning, as it is now time for me to sleep so I can start the new week, the new day, the new me refreshed. Thank you for the wonderful Q&A session...very insightful questions were asked. Thank you, Marie and The Japan Society of NYC!

I love hearing Marie Kondo's voice! A few of the clips I have seen of her, her voice is completely overrun by the interpreter. She has a delightful voice and she occasionally sprinkles in a few English phrases. This interpreter seems very good too.

I was taught many of these methods as a child in Australia. Mind you I’m not so good at putting them into practice. I’m watching now for inspiration lol 😊
