My decluttering approach for clothing: for each season, pack two weeks worth of clothes, as though you were going on a trip. Then, get rid of everything else for that season.

I can really relate to taking out all my clothes and piling them onto the bed. Because I'm a world-class procrastinator, I'll never address the mess in one day. Instead, I'll agonize about decisions to be made. At the end of the day, a significant chunk of the clothes mountain will be on the floor. Days or weeks Little by little, I'm improving. Has anyone seen my keys? LOL

Biggest thing I figured out after owning 5 homes is to not keep more than you can fit. (of course clothing and shoes do not apply!) lol but in the bathrooms, in the pantry, in the hall closets, guest room closets etc. I do not overbuy household supplies anymore, I wait for them to almost run out. Why store it? Maybe one extra and stock up on tp and ppr towels is an exception. Tip: If you have to cram things into a space, you need to get rid of some stuff.

So happy to find you because I am 67, and becoming a hoard. I want to free myself while I can still get around 😌 😊

When God says he's going to pour out overflowing blessings on you
He has on me I have a screened in porch an old home with few closets and few cabinets in the kitchen I have two car detached garage and a storage unit When one of my brothers passed away and the other one decided to move up here suddenly and live with me which I had an extended an invitation We quickly threw everything in the garage and a storage unit Then came a serious illness my bf died, a surgery then came a ICU four months came home with a feeding tube and oxygen Oct.
2 emergency care children Nov.
I have been decluttering every single day for a very long time now talk about spending time looking for something I always say I would have 10 years of my life back
My house was built in 1952 they did not have many things to store then I always say that God has blessed me so I can bless others I've given so so so much away and everybody still says how do you have anything left in your house but I do and in my garage and in my screen and porch in my storage I have taken literally truckloads One of the thrift stores over by me I don't even think I'll take another thing of mine
I'm not interested in being a minimalist Just simple living
God has been so wonderful to me in my life I just want to get things cleared out so I can spend more time doing for Him I know I am now giving blankets to a families for the winter socks children's clothes taking bags of baby clothes to The Crisis Pregnancy Center but it is true the minimum mom says it's like peeling an onion and I'll go through a room I'll grab so much stuff and then the next time I'll grab more. I crave the empty spaces it's so true you breathe so much easier
Whenever anybody walks in my house and they comment on anything pretty even if it's Sparks joy for me I give it to them I am a giver and I'm not a shopper I bought some Christmas presents but I try so hard to get things that will disappear like candy or candles Joshua Becker says you can't clean clutter my daughter says part of the issue is I'm ADHD and I have a hard time staying on task but I'm getting much better because I run around saying stay on task stay on task stay on task that certainly has helped me Not missing one single thing that's left my home I pray no more interruptions and I can finally
Get Ur Done

One thing a day…totally works! After some time you’re like wow…I’ve accomplished so much!

The 2.5 days looking for lost items is sobering! Declutter little and declutter often is a great concept.

Clutter is like having a roommate that takes up space but doesn't contribute to the rent.

Get those photos off your phone and backed up! I have heard so many people losing thousands of photos because their phone was damaged. Thank you for this PSA :)

I totally agree with you! I think 15 min a day make a huge difference, like the compound effect

Great points! It’s nice to watch someone actually open a messy drawer and clear it, rather than some videos where they have 5 things in the drawer and say it’s messy when it clearly isn’t. I watched one the other day and they had no mess but said it was messy and in the comments someone actually said, did you throw anything away? As they just emptied a neat drawer and didn’t show if they got rid of anything. It was all for show, Ridiculous. Thank you for the real thing 😊

Decluttering in manageable chunks is key but what that is varies from person to person based on energy level and stamina. It even varies from day to day for each person! If I had tried the Konmari method on my clothes at the start of my decluttering journey, I would've quit before I even started! I've peeled away so many layers of that onion over the last few years and built my decluttering (decision making) muscles to the point that I probably could do it that way but I still choose not to. 😜

I like how you think! The easiest way is best.😊❤

I really appreciate your thoughts on where our stuff goes when we throw it away or donate it. That's the biggest problem for me.

Totally agree with the clothing article, I've always done classic, it is indispensable, scarves, belts etc can make an outfit look completely different every time

Putting like items with like items was sobering for me. I realized exactly what I had and how many I had, and also I realized that some things I couldn't possibly use up in the next at least 5 years! So I remember that every time I get the urge to go shopping to get that instant gratification high. You don't need 3 highliters or 3-4 blushes ladies... I've had one of those Milani luminoso blushes that I use a lot, I'm starting to see the pan, but realistically I still have at least a year's worth of product left... same with eyeshadow

8:55 I encourage my kids to make something with stuff already in our house, this year one of my kids made a mermaid costume with my leggings

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I don’t want to do it! You got me going in a positive direction. Also, I may look like a hoarder, but I appreciate your concepts of everyday clutter vs. wedding china. Some things I am not ready to process getting rid of. For me, you are not promoting hoarding; you are promoting How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
Instead of overwhelm, I’m making progress. Thank you.

Subscribed as soon as you told me that you taught your children the valuable lesson of thinking about the future and what happens to over consumed products😁
Thank you❤

I think I need a decluttering class for our fridge. Everything else is pretty good.
