Should we exercise when injured?

How should we exercise while we're injured? This is what I do.

Depending on the severity of the injury, I often rest the area for a few days. Afterwards, I'll gently stretch the area to re-introduce it into physical activity. As I start to heal more and more, I incorporate light exercise to speed recovery.

We can always exercise our uninjured parts of our body in the meantime! Even if you're not strong enough for one arm pushups, one arm pullups, or one leg squats, you can do these unilateral exercises with assistance!

This is just what I do. If at all confused, contact a doctor or medical professional before exercising after an injury.

I'm part of the notification squad today because I forgot I scheduled this to be posted.

Wish everyone would adopt this mentality. Broke my hand in the Army last year. Tried telling people and they said to finish the training. Ended up rotating the bone I broke and needed surgery to fix it. A simple break that would’ve taken 2 months to heal turned into 2 plates and 6 screws to fix. Still hurts to bench.

Being middle aged and no stranger to injury, training around them is pretty much par for the course. That being said, I'm a huge fan of your content. I use a fair number of your ideas in keeping my body rolling. I have a back and nerve injury, so I have found that a lot of your ideas fit very well with my wellness goals. Keep up the good work.

My left hand is broken right now and I haven't been exercising. Thanks for the encouragement! You are a gift to everyone around you.

In my experience working around injuries with exercises that don't hurt or just a little bit help recovery. Complete rest is generally a bad idea (with minor stuff).

Awesome tips!
I've recently had a shoulder injury for about 5 months. I've found that my shoulder heals best when im completyely resting, and not training other body parts. I feel like my body then can focus extra on the shoulder, and make it heal quicker. But that's just what I've experienced. Just wanted to give my input.
Thank you for all your videos. You truly are one of the most helpful and honest creators on social media. Keep up the great work!

One of my knees and a tendon in the same leg were injured several months back due to getting jumped. I just exercised every other thing except legs until I could safely exercise my legs again. And even nowadays, it’s not at 100%, but as long as I’m careful with it, I’m good.

Kid: "Mom! It hurts when I do this." *proceeds to twist body in awkward inhuman position.*

Mom: "...Then don't do that...."

I was literally just wondering what to do about my right foot and ankle. I've had to stop workouts waiting for it to heal. Your timing is amazing Hampton

This channel has helped me so much. With all the alternative options and different difficulties. I have chronic pain and haven't been able to move much this year but this channel has helped me feel more freedom with working out. I'm now working out once a week and it's really empowering

Omg thanks for the tips bro!
I’m always some kind of injured or sprained from work & I’m hesitant to stay active because of it

Anyone with a wicked case of plantar fasciitis: if you can’t walk when you get up just hobble & limp. I find in a few minutes I’m almost normal if I push myself to get going. Don’t let it hold you back!

I just dislocated my knee a week ago and really wanted to start being active again today. But I had the thought not to, n this pops up on my page. Thanks for the gentle reminder, man. Gotta take it slow. ❤

Hampton i love hearing you talk, the first time i knew about you is when you went against everyone’s warnings and went to ifunny. Gained the respect of their sometimes toxic community. Everybody loves you, toxic or not :) but. We dont really know what goes on the inside. So can you make a video where you just talk about ur problems if you dont mind sharing them. And then talk about how you are gonna tackle them. Wether they sre minor inconveniences or big. Just talk about anything that bothers u and romes ur mind alot and how u r gonna fix it. Thanks :)

I am living with chronic pain in upper leg area and have an implant in my lower back for the pain. Some exercises I can't do, but I still do what I can.

I stopped exercising for 4 weeks when I pulled my neck and had daily headaches. I felt a bit guilty, but when I moved around I could feel the tension. Thanks for the back-up on keeping out if it doesn't feel right.

Thank for covering this; I have a torn rotator cuff, and it's put a
damper on my fitness regimen. But I refuse to back Down.
