We’d all love to have the cash to buy a brand spanking new Ford Ranger Raptor, Navara Warrior or Hilux Rugged X but what if the north of $60,000 price tags is about 30 grand too much? For less than $30 grand, what are the best 4wd Dual-cab utes/pick-ups out there?

Well, here is our Top 5.

At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.

Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.

Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.

So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.

We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

Great channel! Not enough people doing used car reviews, and none as thoroughly as this. The market in South Africa is dominated by Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, with Isuzu also taken seriously as a 4x4. I recently stumbled across (and bought) a 2020 demo Fiat Fullback 2.4DiD DC 4x4 auto. Low kms, factory service plan and warranty. It's an MQ Triton with a Fiat badge on it, which meant I saved myself a packet on the used price. It also means that I've only seen one other like mine in two months, as opposed to 20 Hiluxes between here and the shops. By way of comparison, an equivalent Hilux is half again as much to buy. Lighter than the Ford and Toyota, fitted with a transmission oil cooler which is rare and a huge benefit for long distances (especially on sand), and the engine is wonderfully responsive compared to any other turbodiesel I've driven. The Triton is way underrated here, and the Fullback is basically unknown, but I'm very happy with my purchase. Keep up the good work!

Its amazing how little you get for so much coin in a Ute. They aren't exactly great to drive either.

G'day, My wife wants her STX 550 back. The Navara needs a snorkel to keep dust out of the engine (Long story). They also need a "work around" for low range up shifting, there is an easy mod to do to improve (not fix) low range shifting issues.

Time for a 2022 version, sadly thanks to covid these prices aren’t accurate anymore!

@redriven oi! I've gotten through all your content and we are in lockdown. How on earth can I expect you to make more? Maybe a podcast from the boot of a car? The best car review channel on YouTube

@Mike Zog, I was fully expecting both the DMax and Colorado to be in there, especially towards the pointy end

Goodluck getting a 130 for under 30k now . Since Landrover. Refused to put airbags in the defender and stopped the production of the real defenders the price had headed steadily north, I sold my 2001 130 after rolling it on a trailer with out a straight pannel on it for $17 k and the reason it was on a trailer was because the second td5 in it was stuffed, so basically $17k for a rollover 130 with a stuffed motor .

I can't believe you guys put the navara on this list

If worn out defenders are a nightmare why are they in your top 5? Surely Isuzu is better?

That curved shape where the tray meats the cab on Tritons just puts me off them.

Some good info about hilux but injector seats at 45k is a big risk of contamination, check oil pickup from 150k on and replace seats and injectors about 200k or 10 years, 2015 1kd last of the best

D40 Navara but no DMax? Also would love you guys to do a review on the RG Colorado; are they a cheat code to avoid the Hilux & Ranger tax especially since Holden is gone, or are they just crap?

I went the ldv 2020 luxe mega tub 2.8 diesel for 28k.
Bigger than all of the picks.
In saying that was looking at a 2009 discovery 3 range rover.
For 10k

Toyota Hilux Dual Cab Diesel (1989-1997) this version of the Hilux is the indestructible one that runs forever, it’s the best for under 30 grand in Australia. I don’t know about anywhere else probably still under 30 though because not many people buy them anymore, a lot of people buy them here 🇦🇺 but Europe hell no

Hey just came across your channel and wanted to say it’s fantastic. I’m in the market for a second hand small SUV and the Subaru XV review was a huge help. Hope to see more soon
