Sports bar to protect your roof from long items like wood or metal, with the added bonus of a bit of style.

Like everything else in the world, options list are useful if we make use of them.
1. Hard-lids are useful to prevent theft or if you're carrying items that are water sensitive.
2. Paddle shift is useful in a tiptronic vehicle. It's more convenient to just flick your fingers to change gear especially when you're concentrating on the road.
3. You will find that sports bar and spotlights useful when you are caught on a foggy road.
4. Side steps can be very useful for older people and smaller people.
5. Sun roof and panoramic roof can make the car feel more spacious, cause of more lights coming in.

In all, if you're not planning to use them, then don't tick the box. If you add those options list when you know that there's no way you would ever use them, that is when you can say they are useless.

Hard lid is a great way to provide some security.... and the sports bar, atlas on the hilux, is OK, it will take ladders etc no worries

The Only thing that’s “useless” is this video

Sunroofs are very usefull for spotlighting. You can make a mount that clamps into the open sunroof so you can have a remote spotlight without the hassle of having a giant spotlight constantly preventing you going places.

Where I'm from we use the sports bar for carrying long items like lumber. better than having the load resting directly on the roof

.Hard lids are actually helpful stops theft

.Sports bars are good if you put lights on them especially going off road

.Side steps are also good especially if you vehicle is low as it stops panel damage on the doors

.These guys obviously don't actually own a ute and use it day in day out for work or going off road

On a duel cab ute you can't out a motorcycle in the bed unless you drop the tail gate a single cab ute with an aluminum tray can fit a motorcycle in the bed and you can close the tail gate

Sports bars aren't usless tbh. I use mine to bolt lights to if i need to see behind me at night (not on the road obviously). They are also handy for carrying long peices of material. And I even use them as tie down points. ngl they're pretty good... plus they look kinda cool.

Sports bars help when carrying long items (wood, pipes) so you don't scratch the roof without the need for a full roof rack though.

Sports bars were a thing on 80’s American pickups. Americans left them back in the 80s where they belong. Get rid of them. I agree on all these. I don’t mind a sunroof or a power sliding rear window. They should all be like the Tundra and Avalanche where the whole back window slides down.

The most useless thing about UTES is when you don't use them at all...

Dual cab ute for a every day car: all your stuff can be flogged from the back, hardcovers are very easy to break the lock. Enjoy a tight car space in the city with the long wheel base. Bouncy ride as they are designed to carry weight, goodbye comfort, especially on rough country roads! Have a nice long piece of timber from Bunnings to take home? Small tray and no capability to fold seats will have you hanging it out the back or up high. Time to wash your ute, you also get that tray to sort out. The price is up there nowadays, so solution to all of the above? Get a wagon, like the upcoming Fortuner etc. Your stuff is locked up, ride is better, you can drop seats, easier to wash and that long timber will have a easy trip home. Still long, still expensive, but if you don't really need that tray, it makes more sense for the asking price which is about the same.

Roll bar/sports bar are not useless nor are the spotlights people out on the roll bar because I’ll be doing that with my car and I’ll use them all the time

I like that the amarok got bullied 👌 not enough people mention how stupid those cars are. Amaroks are the equivalent of an LDV or great wall but cost 2x the price 😐
