I'm glad you've been posting on YouTube. You're one of the few sane voices of advice out there right now. Thanks a ton!

Thank you. This was a good reminder. I had never considered body armor or reloading equipment before.

I TOTALLY agree that firearms never depreciate in value. You ARE correct that a firearm can be very handy in getting some good cash if times called for it. However, I PERSONALLY don't feel too comfortable giving up any firearm, regardless of how many I have, during any collaspe because that is when people are at their ugliest and that firearm I just sold for money could have been given to help a family member of mine protect theirselves.

I think the grain alcohol is great advice. If SHTF, keep pop cans, and make pop can stoves to go with the alcohol. Most people would be clueless about that stuff. You could make friends, get allies.

I found that during Katrina, cold sodas were a great item to have to pass around. After the power was out for awhile people had no more ice. Pull up and start talking to a cop, his demeanor towards you was so much better after you gave him an ice cold coke that he hasn't had in 2 weeks.

Maybe you happen to have more than one. Some people have 10 ak47 or more. Maybe you can sell some of those for a profit, hopefully to people you know, maybe guys that didint buy them before and now need/want one. I sold some of my guns when I left Argentina and they were the most profitable item I sold when leaving.

There are three questions here:

1- Can you afford to stockpile enough to make a difference ?
2- What exactly are you expecting these people to give you in exchange that would justify the investment ?
3- What happen if you sink 10 000 $ in barters Items and SHTF ? Just think about what you could have invested it into.

Best "barter items" is you owning something as real estate that doesn't get destroyed easily or are crossing people into Canada across the Great Lakes in exchange of jewelry

Galls has good body armor (level 3) for around $500. I bought two and they are concealable (somewhat). Other places sell it for $700 - $1, 000 +.

I am from argentina and we used to do barter for a living (my parent bellown to me working class so when shtf we where right next to it), One thing that never never is bad, clothing (especially for kids) its something that everybody needs and almost no one can make... food, if you know how to do things that normally you can buy a supermarket you can barter or sell them, entertayment if you know how to make a good pirate movie you can do ok.

Anything that I get for potential barter should also be something that I could use myself if nothing happens. A good example is that I don't buy firearm magazines for guns I don't already own or plan on getting (then it needs to be a real good deal).

With a multimeter one can easily read how much life a battery has. In this way, if you need batteries and someone has some to trade, you know you aren't being conned. Without a multimeter, I would not trust anyone trying to trade batteries. You could be giving food and ammo for a battery that has almost no charge remaining.

Most of the time I use Angolan Kwanza, which is a IOU backed by US IOU bills, and even if they printed "SUCKERS" on the bill it wouldn't matter and people would still use them as long as they have faith that there is no counterfeit.

There will always be paper money backed by nothing, there is not enough gold or silver to for currency, this is just a fact of life.

In SHTF you will need cash to pay for stuff and if the economy goes down you will need to make money to live despite inflation

here is the thing, right now high dollar italian models are most expensive BUT in SHTF/WROL the simple cheap side by side 12 ga. is what you want for barter as EVERYONE can point and shoot rather than racking a slide or maintaining a quality semi-auto. and remember "gun nuts" have asault rifles "sportsmen" own shotguns- look up dragons breath and sabot slugs, these rounds make shotguns so useful as opposed to $1000.00 plus single purpose weapons that cost alot to own and shoot and draw atten...
