SEEDS are the NUMBER ONE bartering tool to always keep on hand in my humble opinion.

Years ago my husband was in South America with a group of men in a medical missions trip. I suggested he pack sewing needles to give out, and it turned out they were a very much desired and popular item there, , thread would have made it even better ( and have you noticed the price of thread now ?). Needles, thread, and a yard of good fabric could be a trade item too, more specific, but even tough-it-out homesteaders need things patched up and mended.

I remember that conversation with that guy. His name was Selco and I loved reading his reaction that his neighbor was distilling pine sap to turpentine.

I disagree though. The best thing to have is your brain and skills.

Midwifery (among other professional skills) is also a great trade to know and learn as that would bring a wealth of abundance through bartering and trading.
No one mentioned honey, either.

Edit: Scripture says we will thirst for the Word, so, physical Bibles will be of the utmost importance.

Just so people are not confused you cannot run a diesel on distilled alcohol. The cutaneous is too low and auto ignition is temp is far too high. What he did was tap the pine tree and distill light fuel off of it and use the fatty oil left in the bottom. A gasoline engine will run on distilled alcohol but diesel needs a high cetane low auto ignition temp...I run my diesel on used engine oil, vegetable oil or any kind of fatty oil like hemp, algae, peanut oil ect...

The distilled alcohol will also run chainsaws with a jet change and the correct oil to mix with it. Good video

I suggest that you rescind your contract and registration and tell Them that you sold it.

Distilled liquor can also be used for other things--cleaning wounds and household items.

I was looking into buying one. I didn't know they were regulated - that's crazy! I'd like to learn more on how it can be used for essential oils.

My husband and I converted our 05 GMC 3500 to run on used veggie oil. The system is down right now unfortunately, but it is really cool when it runs right.

Bartering is awesome. We have a special section for that in every listed city.

I had a lot of fire starters, knives, water filters and more that I collected up from mid 80s to end of the 90s . But, when the buck knife sets I paid $14 for got up to $350-$450 on ebay, I sold them . I also traded some of my other bartering preps for a decent little car.

I have an 8-gallon Alembic copper still, a replica of the one invented by the father of perfumery, Alkindus, in the 9th Century. It can be heated with the traditional wood fire or with propane tanks. It’s intended use is to produce essential oils and hydrosols, as well as other medicines that need to be distilled. You mentioned distilling water; I hadn’t thought of that. Great idea!

Thanks for your contribution to getting through the next few years. I’m starting a neighborhood barter exchange in my rural neighborhood. When people join, they’ll identify what goods/services they can provide and those which they need. The list will be distributed to each member and exchanges will be made between members.

Where I grew up there was an old Norwegian bachelor who produced the purest moonshine around. He was VERY popular during WWII when gas was rationed.

Whatever you make or have during a collapse keep it a secret, never show your hand. If you are eating well when food is hard to come by then everyone will just follow the fat kid home. If you are making your own fuel when no one can get fuel. Don't go out cruising around.

Growing up in Shell Knob back in the early to mid 70s stills were everwhere, that stuff can make you go blind, or worse, old timer proofing it is a art

Lol I have been saving small bottle of Vodca! It is a disinfectant and can be used for tinctures, sterilizing and drinking. I have dozens that I have collected over the past 2 years
