You know how much BMW Dean talks about other youtubers... But I like you more because you have a honest and positive attitude.

Great fault finding video, sometimes things are not quite as obvious as you imagine, keep up the great info, you are indeed a source of knowledge and great sharing.

As a USA guy I can’t believe someone would tow with a luxury BMW. Wow. But you fixed it. And fixed it well. Congratulations George!

Thank you for this video, do you remember, when was cold outside and car was cold, first started, the cluck was present? Mechanics told me my clunk is from drive shaft, but I don't see logics why when cold the sound is not present.

George the series of DIY vids you've made that lead to this "special moment" have been more entertaining than Fringe (season 5) In analogy - if your car could stand up & was a strapping lad you would have refurbished close to every part below the belt. lol.

Usually this would have been my way - like you eventually finding the illusive after replacing a bunch of unnecessaries.
Thanks again George ( awesome work/car dude | nice rear end too. )

I guess while i'm doing the flex-disk & centre support/bearing & definitely take a closer look at my Dif.

Thanks for sharing, Lex.🇳🇿GETRAG

I have this sound but only when i cross 1600-1800RPM. Mostly when throttle is not pushed on, but happens when it is too.

What could it be?

Differential bushings should've been the first thing you replaced when you heard the rear end clunk with gear shifts, the 2x front and 1x rear bushings. This was definitely the culprit.

Had a clunking noise on my E60 msport from underneath, turned out it was the exhaust hitting the plate under the body because the exhaust flange that connects to the dpf had rotted away and under load was clattering off the plate. Sourced a second hand rear exhaust section (£700+ from BMW) and job done for £80.

while driving does it sound like its coming from underneath between the front seats? i can feel knocking sometimes when i put my hand on the floor just behind the centre console but it also sounds like its coming from the drivers side rear wheel sometimes. ( perhaps i have 2 different problems at the same time) It tends to happen at slower speeds and noticed mostly while not on the throttle, it sometimes judders the entire car but it comes and goes at the moment but is getting worse. I had the propshaft rear and centre bearings replaced 4 months ago and is a completely different noise to what i was having then (which was a violent judder under acceleration).

Hey man, I have 05 330xi, and I have a rapid clunking from the rear end only when I’m on the accelerator, 2-3rd gear, I’m thinking it’s possibly the CV axles?? Very confused.
