You sir are an absolute legend. 6 months with this noise and even took it to a garage where 3 mechanics couldn't figure it out. My cars a pleasure to drive again. Thank you and sending you a virtual beer 🍺

Man I can’t wait to see if this works. Had an alignment done & started hearing the loud bang when backing in or pulling out of the driveway & immediately breaking at the end of it. Sounds like the exact same noise. The dealership who did the alignment wouldn’t even look at the truck because it’s lifted, despite them doing the alignment. Other shops weren’t doing the exact thing to get it to make the noise despite them seeing the videos I’ve made of it doing it. Nobody could figure it out. So glad I found this video. This has gotta be what’s wrong!

AMAZING! I’m an industrial mechanic with 35 yrs experience. This noise was killing me!! Just had my alignment done on my 2015 Tacoma. Everything was great for about a week. Then the bang and cracking sound started. I have a 2WD, so I couldn’t be the front CV. You nailed it bro!!! I just subscribed and will be checking out the rest of your content. Thx!!

This was spot on. I had a lot of front suspension just done to my Chevy Malibu basically everything. I had noise that I didn't have when I took my car in for the repairs. Driver side kept hearing this clunk sound when breaking and pulling off. So I decide to look for myself and found the driver side control arm bolt loose and the passenger side about 1/4 of the way out. I tighten all my nut and bolts and that fixed that issue. People don't trust that the person working on you car will care enough to take pride and do the job correct. Also go back if you can and check everything yourself. Thanks for this tip it really helped. 👍👍💪

12 months Replaced tie rods, control arms, CV axle, struts, sway bar bushings, etc etc... went away for 6 months. Replaced motor mounts twice.. have had 3 shops look at it 150.00 each. All said same thing motor mounts axle, this that etc etc. all wanted 4k, no guarantees.
Everything is BRAND NEW UNDER THAT HOOD. CLUNK. I should have videod my kid riding the front with the hood open ....listening.
Went out 10 minutes ago and tightened both sides of control arm. Each turned 1/2 to 3/4 turn.
No more CLUNK.
Thanks.

I recently had my sway bar, a arm, and inner and outer tie rods changed and today I had an alignment and a couple hours after I left this issue started happening. Thank God for you and youtube! Now I can just do it myself instead of worrying more than I already have.

Haven't tried this yet but it's the exact problem I've been dealing with for a couple of years. Been searching for a solution since the start. Thank you.

You, my friend, are an absolute legend! I recently purchased a 2023 4Runner TRD Off-Road. Truck was well out of alignment before purchase. The tech at the Toyota dealership performed the alignment, however I could tell he was cutting corners and trying to save time as he did not even remove the front skid plate when he was tightening the LCA cam bolts. There was so little room with the skid on that he was actually bending the plate every time he moved the wrench....

3 months later and this EXACT noise starts creeping up. Driving me nuts, especially considering its a brand new truck that has not even seen off-road yet. Booked an appointment with the dealer to have it looked at with the thought in the back of my mind that there was a 90% chance I'd leave the car with them for half the day and come back to the old, "we couldn't reproduce the problem, come back if it happens again" line.

Anyways, I removed the front skid this evening and low and behold all 4 of these bolts on the LCA are well below factory spec torque. Used a torque wrench to get them back to spec and voila, no more noise.

You saved me a ton of time and hassle at the stealership. Keep up the great work, and thanks again!

That sound on my 05 pre runner was infuriating, especially after changing out upper and lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rods. Passenger side nut was pretty loose( I was able to turn about 4 turns) driver side was only 2 turns. Noise is gone. Thanks for sharing.

I knew it was something to do with alignment bolts. Last alignment place hasn’t done a good job anyway and this sound started coming up. Had a look underneath but the nut didn’t look loose so I thought May be it was the 2 inch lift I recently installed making that sound. Thank you for the video I never thought I’d find something online to explain as this can be anything but key words”braking while turning” landed on this video
