E46 M3 Differential Clunk. Is This Normal! Lol

My rebuilt differential didn’t last too long. That’s where the clunk seems to be coming from. Not sure how much slack there should be between the wheels. Too bad it’s out of warranty. I think I’ll look into another diff but from “Racing Diffs” this time.

As e46 m3 owner I can say yes it is normal. And if you want to illuminate the clunk sound you can service your diff and have the new clutch plates and spacers. Where it help to reduce the free play space.

Sooo….come to find out, the clunks after the diff were caused by a failed passenger side engine mount. Guess I should’ve bought better mounts instead of cheap ones. I replaced them already with 95 durometer UUC mounts. Only clunks now are the “normal” inherent clunks from the M diff.

Free play will destroy the differential and other parts
