Its actually crazy how well your ears mend, youd think something like this would destroy your ear but it just naturally heals in a couple of weeks and gets fixed like this

I remember when I ruptured an eardrum for the first time. I was suffering from an ear infection earlier in the day, and while I do have a nasty history with ear infections, this one was unusually painful to the point that I was literally writhing in agony. I eventually fell asleep(or passed out) and when I awoke, the pain was gone and I felt much better. Later in the evening I was reading a book and felt fluid trickling done my face and I thought it was just some discharge. However, when I went the bathroom, I saw that I had a trail of dried blood down my face, to which I said "Oh, that's not good." We went to an Urgent Care and found out that I had an Otitis Media and my eustachian tubes had swelled shut, so fluid couldn't drain, thus resulting in my eardrums rupturing to release fluid. Luckily, my eardrum healed and hearing seems to be un-impaired.

I've heard that broken eardrums heal by themselves but it's good to hear that it is true. In case it should ever happen, I won't have to panic.

How refreshing to have a patient who followed directions once he realized he messed up big time (I’ll bet that Amazon purchase doesn’t look like a bargain, now)! I appreciate that he let you share his story and procedure. I learned more about perforations, understand that I’m not the only one to make questionable life choices sometimes, and got to see an excellent ear cleaning. It looked like we were staring into an abyss into hell before you started 😱 but ended up looking like a normal human ear canal 🙂.

2:20 Yes the blood forms a crust, that protects the eardrum (even from AIR) and supports the ear drum tissue while it heals underneath .. unless its really infected, it's best t let the bod heal itself!! .. VERY good decision Doc!! .. it' tempting to try to "fix it" right away!!

Your video's are are really something, one of the hardened earwax removal video's popped up in my feed, watched most of them. Very interesting stuff. Made me just a tiny bit concerned about my own ear canals. Never had a problem, had minor taenites my whole life. Learned to live with it.
Ended up getting one of those Otoscope's from Amazon for about 30$. Plugged into my phone. My major concern is because I wear earbuds for all my headphone needs, was slightly concerned that I was pushing earwax deeper in.
Turned out no problem, some wax on the side but minimal and it gives good piece of mind knowing you have a clean ear drums. Was even able to do the Valsalva maneuver and watch my drums move.
Was even able to check my moms ear drums with it. Much harder on someone else than myself. Huge pops man. Love the video's, keep doing them please.
