Prior to being rated 100 disabled by the VA I received services through the VA. I paid $8 for prescriptions, my hearing aids, and glasses cost me nothing. I was hospitalized 3 times, twice through local ERs and never received a bill. I saw no reason to enroll in Part B, it would have been a waste of money.

Good information to know. I'm a vet approaching 65 about to apply for Medicare A&B. Good to know that my Medicare benefits don't conflict with my VA medical benefits.

As a Vet with VA healthcare living in a rural area, I use Community Care through the VA for all my medical needs. I do have the choice to utilize the VA hospital, but generally specify my own Dr. and hospital I signed up for Medicare part A only when I turned 65. It’s been smooth sailing for me.

I am 85 and only enrolled in part A of Medicare and thus save app 2100 annually premium sum . I have been receiving all my Medical thru the Va and utilizing Community Care - app 90 percent of all my tests, doctors and non Va hospital visits with VA paying the full tab . The only exception is a small payment on Scripts ( about 10 percent ) as well as preventive dental . The bottom line the only medical costs I incurr is about 10 percent of my prescriptions ( about 20 monthly ) my 3 annual dental visits cost me about 600 annually ) So by not taking part b and saving app 2100 annually - I am saving app 1500 annually . My VA covers also all my vision and hearing issues . Why would a 13:52 veteran who is eligible to be in the Community Service route need to spend app 2100 in 13:50 13:52 13:52 13:52 premiums at a minimum ? Am I missing something ? Tom

If you are a veteran, that lives 40 miles or more from the nearest VA health facility, there is ABSOLUTLY no reason to further enrich the coffers of insurance companies by paying Medicare B premiums. I'm a 71 yr old Army vet who several years ago was diagnosed with a severe pulmonological issue and just recently was diagnosed with malignant high risk prostate cancer. Other than paying for a miniscule deductible for prescriptive services, mailed from the nearest VA facility, the VA Community Care Network has paid for ALL diagnostic and hospital stays & procedures, including the newest and best radiotherapy PSMA/PET scan that quite few private insurance companies refuse to cover. Unless, you want to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $170 a month for private Medicare B coverage veterans owe it to THEMSELVES to check this out. Thanks Buddies!

I am a vet, disabled by the state, yet the VA plays the blind game! Thank God for Medicare!

Appreciate the information. I was wondering how Medicare would play a role in my healthcare with the VA. I am 59.

Thanks for the info, I’m currently 51 P&T Vet, so nothing to worry about for another decade, unless there’s something I don’t know about comes up.

Good info over all. I just turned 56 and won my SSDI case while still awaiting a decision on my VA disability claim (it's in stage 3 since April-ish this year). My Medicare starts Oct 1 according to SSA. I have already been hospitalized twice and to the ER 3 times in addition to these two stays and VA Community Care picked up all of that. Only thing I have left to look at is if it will be cheaper to get prescriptions from drug store vs. VA since I have a copay either way at this point.

I'm a veteran, I been getting care at VA hosp, I be 65 August 2024, I'm definitely getting Part C advantage plan at age 65 as a backup. 174.70 a month, have to sign up for medicare part B to be eligible to sign up for Part C advantage plan which is 0 premium a month, ( but you are paying the 174.70 a month, 🙄, at that point you can't use Part B insu because you have Part C advantage plan can't use Part B and Part C Advantage plan together, but you still have to pay monthly premium 174.70 you can get discounted with the M A plan, , Also I don't want to pay that late penalty fee by signing up later on down the road for part C advantage plan.

Great video! Easy to follow Excellent information! I am 64 rated 100% p&t can I get parts A&B now? I live in Las Vegas. It’s been extremely difficult to get care through the VA took a full year to get an appointment with a urologist! The VA finally granted me Community Care. It would be such a relief to be able to get care with out waiting a year between appointments……

An excellent video and first time viewer. The only feedback aside from excellent information is, please have your editor stop swiping the video from side to side. It's an unnecessary distraction, but thank you very much!

I am a p&t veteran in Wyoming. The VA* has been terrible getting me orthotics, even though I have a in service disability needing orthotics. The have played every game in the book with me. Plus I have ptsd and it had been hard to get emdr therapy.

VA healthcare is great for medications! For real healthcare Medicare with a Supplement is the only way to go! BTW I’m a 100 percent disabled veteran. The cost of coverage is next to nothing… The care is real!!!
