I have 40% VA disability, I was given Tricare.... its absolutely worthless. Im on Social Security and Medicare now.
I complained about my VA treatment and Doctor to my Congressman, and the VA Doctor called me on the phone and told me to "NEVER CALL MY CONGRESSMAN AGAIN, about the VA" The VA Hospital in Long Beach CA is a dangerous place.. DO NOT GO THERE ALONE, and DO NOT let them keep you over night.

why ? what happened to individual rights ? I have been sent notice by Social Security I have to pay $170.00 every Month for services I will not use from the $650.00 I receive that I PAID FOR THRU WORK(now $480.00)...now, I cannot afford this unless I quit eating ( $350 mo for living in unheated attic $22.00 auto insurance and $120.00 for property in Storage . I REFUSE TO BECOME A WARD OF THE STATE so any suggestions short of something drastic ?

Ok what about option 3 Medicare A & B, VA, & Tricare for Life (TFL) retired military 23 years disabled military. No one ever talks about that. I was in Vietnam and Gulf War. Like VA and like TFL. You get TFL automatically when you get Medicare A & B.

Champva is for spouses and dependents of 100 percent permanent and total veterans and not for spouses or dependents of those who are eligible for Tricare.

If you or your sponsor is military retired you can get a pair of glasses once a year on a space available basis at the Military treatment facility. I get mine every year.

tricare is not for regular veterans! I have A & B, and closer to outside med care! VA does not cover outside care!

Thank you for clarifying about Tricare for Life with Medicare A & B. This is what I have and been told repeatedly that it is probably the best coverage available. The only downside is no dental, hearing or vision coverage, but I can live with individual plans for that. Any recommendations on choosing options for those?

Actually, from what I was told, being eligible for VA healthcare benefits has more specific criteria than simply being in the military and receiving an honorable discharge. I was in the Army from 1978-82 and I am not entitled to any VA health benefits. I was neither in during wartime, nor was I disabled during active duty. Nonetheless, I have "heard" that if one's income is low enough, he or she may be eligible for some VA medical care or other assistance? However, I don't fit into that category. You stated it well, Mr. Musick; never assume that the organization will be every prior service member's guaranteed substitute for Medicare Part B, Advantage Plans, Supplemental Plans or Part D Plans.

what about D for drug plan. i just got on medicare and have been on VA since The Affordable Care Act went into effect. without a drug plan, how do i get my non-va meds?

Wait a minute.... Tricare for life and Champs VA members could still benefit from a MAPD plan because they may have little to no monthly premium for a plan that includes drug coverage. So that right there will will reduce or eliminate the monthly amount they pay for a drug plan. Not only that but some MAPD plans give back a portion of their part B monthly premium. Another benefit of having a MAPD.

If I opt for A&B at 65, and do not opt for a supplemental plan, can I sign up later for an Advantage plan some years later without the medical questionnaire required for the supplemental?

A few things just because you served in the military or retired doesn't necessarily mean you automatically get VA benefits.

Can you go over the veterans that are 100% permanent and total that receive 100% medyacak and dental and retired from the military and get tri care for life

I am 80 & have only used three VA & never signed up for Medicare.
If I move to an area with limited VA facilities.
