What did Jesus Mean When He Said You Must Be Born of Water?

KJV, John 3:5 - Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water, and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
This 'water', which Jesus was referring to is, the pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb - Rev 22:1
The Father God spoke of this same water in Rev 21:6; And he (God the Father) said unto me (John), It is done, I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
The Spirit also speaks of this water in Rev 22:17; And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst, come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

So, we see and read that this water is freely given, and from the throne of God and the Lamb, who are in heaven. The word water can also be written or understood as, "the fountain of living waters."
John 4:10, says, Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God (water freely given), and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water (pure river of the water of life).
John 7:37, 38, ....If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of the belly shall flow rivers of living water..

This 'spiritual water', is also confirmed in the Old testament as, "the fountain of living waters ", who is the LORD. God is this living water. Jer: 2:13, For my people have committed two evils; They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water (spiritual water).
Ps 36:8, 9, They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shall make them drink of the rivers of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life; in thy light shall we see it.
Jer 17:13, O LORD, the hope is Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
Eph 36:25 speaks of this spiritual waters from heaven and the Lamb, " Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
God showed this river of living waters to his prophets. Ezekiel 47:1 - 12, and Zechariah 14:8 proves that this water Jesus spoke of was spiritual water from the throne of God that will flow rivers of water out from Jerusalem in the future. This water is eternal life from the Father God and Jesus Christ our Lord.

The New testament speaks of this 'water', as "called to be saints". This is hidden knowledge that to be called comes from the fountain of living waters, the LORD. Rom 1:7, Rom 8:30, 1Cor 6:11, And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus (the fountain of living waters), and by the Spirit of our God.
Right there in 1Cor 6:11, proves the words of Jesus Christ from John 3:5, "Except a man be born of water (the fountain of living waters, the LORD; called to be saints from God, and ye are washed by this river of water), and of the Spirit.

Now, we can also see, the power of the Word is also this water that comes from the throne of God and the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ; in Eph 5:26, That he (Christ Jesus) might sanctify and cleanse it (the church body of believers), with the washing of water by the Word; and in Titus 3:4, 5, But after that the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
The washing of regeneration is meaning the new creation of the new man. We are washed by the Word of God:
Heb 4:12, For the Word of God is quick (living) and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing of asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of the heart.
Eph 6:17, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
We know who IS the Word of God, by Rev 19:12, 13, which says, "His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns, and he had a name written, that no man knew but himself.
And he was clothed with a vesture that was dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. "

1Cor 1:1, 2, " Paul, called (by water from the LORD, the pure river of life) to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called (by the fountain of living waters, the LORD) to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:"

So, we can see that the called are from the throne of God and the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

This water, Jesus spoke of can only be the pure river of water that proceeds from the throne of God God Himself, who IS the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
