There is a difference between hearing your emotions, exploring yourself through them, being guided by them versus letting them decide for you. It's very important to take your emotions seriously and address them. I personally don't see any shortcuts around emotional experience

Emotions are information and motivation. Dr k already told us the mind is malfunctioning when emotional or thinking about ourselves, so we know emotions give us inaccurate information and that ego removes us from reality.


So the information is bad, next up motivation. Regarding emotional motivation the bottom line is either you are in control of your actions or you're being controlled by your emotional motivations. It feels really good to give in to emotional motivation

I've been practicing (or at least have been trying to) stoicism for about 2 years now. One thing that's a common misconception and some stoics actually do themselves is to suppress emotion. Stoicism is actually all about feeling and getting to experience your emotions fully. Process your emotions and let yourself just feel. Just don't let the emotions control you or your actions. The only things we can control are our ourselves.

Stoicism is one method, but there are lots of ways to learn to emotionally regulate better. Positive psychology focuses on these sorts of things and there is tons of free information on exercises you can do by yourself to improve your ability to regulate.

Although some people ironically apply stoicism in a very emotional way. Well, at least i automatically dissociate from everything negative.

If the offered example is to be believed, the point is to not let circumstances drive your emotions. That is different from not letting emotions drive actions. Burnout is driven by emotions, right? If the resentment happens, you have already lost.
