the worst part is procrastinating for days after achieving something great just to feel like an idiot, it feels like I just wiped off all the knowledge from my brain somehow.

Over consumption is what I have been struggling a lot. I can't remember a day that I don't watch youtube. I don't have any problems with any other social media but youtube.

"you might not be able to change the game, but you do have the power to change the way you play" 🙌 🔥 damn I never thought of it like this . I guess it all depends on the mindset of a person and how they respond to the situation

03:56 Unlimited content and diminished pleasure lead to decreased attention spans.
05:17 Excessive consumption of information leads to loneliness and misinformation.
06:30 Consumption of information has led to the erosion of critical thinking
07:49 Content consumption has trapped our minds.
09:06 Choosing between consumption and creation affects focus.

I can’t remember the last time I focus on a certain task without thinking of what I want to watch on YouTube, or the new anime episodes. I’ve had these thoughts for so long, I prioritise the contents more than my tasks, leading to a lot of procrastination. This video has given me a form of clarity on what can be done to overcome my addiction. I hope others can do the same too

This video resonates with me. I feel like after severely lowering my time gaming, instead of being more productive, which was the goal, I have just replaced this time slot with MORE social media. I have developed a bad habit of going on Facebook and YT, mostly from FOMO. Shorts have become even more prevalent, some days more than regular content. These algorithms truly know how to get me (us) hooked to stay longer on them. So far the only solution I have found is temporary - phone in the other room, pull the cable of the internet connection, but I NEED the internet to check up on things related to my work and studies! Then I get distracted on other things on the browser. Such is the paradox of the 21st century productivity.

This genuinely made me rethink a lot and now i feel super focused to actually start writing my stories again. So thank you for this! Really needed the reality check there. My mind feels a lot clearer now❤

So good! Initially I wanted to end with that comment but in the video you mentioned our need for efficiency hindering our ability to engage with content in a healthy way.

I think virtual communities are helping fight this.

People don't have to read Webnovels, stream Anime or other content alone anymore(information isn't processed in isolation thanks to this).

Despite the means taking on a different form the end of connecting and being exposed to different view points remains the same.

There are things that have been lost yes but other things have been gained too.

And I think one of the ways to avoid being mindlessly pulled into the vortex of digitization is to have a reason for choosing to open and use whichever device and to connect with people that think differently to the avoid algorithm trap.

I hope that makes sense.

Wow what a content. It truly needs a lot of hardwork. You says exactly what's happening in my daily life. Of course I shouldn't conclude that way. But still it's really 90% match. It could be a treasure of you could do more videos about how to happily convince our minds and make it focused too

At this point I feel like whatever I saw in different movies in my childhood about robots taking over the world is maybe turning to a reality now

3 words: mindfulness, meditation, creation. Meditate on something that is not designed to be pleasant, such as your breath or a point on the skin, to get emptiness into the brain, which is the opposite to the ever next cool information you are trained to seek. Practice mindfulness to guide your brain back to the moment, while doing routine stuff. And routinely allocate time to create something, because creation is another opposite to media consumption. Not only are those 3 distinct differences to the media consumption we are so used to, they come with health and mental benefits on their own. I have been at the exact point where you are and I agree, it is not even remotely healthy. Our brains adapt by devolving, kind of. We can be so lucky that this is reversible. If you make a video on those 3, quote me. 😁
