Speed Limit Tolerance For The Road Test-Driving Lesson

In this video, I tell you about the speed limit tolerance for the road test. Many people that will be taking their driving test soon ask themselves how much over or under the speed limit are they allowed to go before they fail their test. There is a very simple formula that many driving test examiners use, and I explain how the formula works in the video. Basically, your goal should be to stay as close to the speed limit as possible and you should be good to go. It should also be noted that sometimes you have to drive slower than the speed limit. For instance, if the traffic conditions are slow or if the road conditions are not ideal. In those situations, you will have to drive at a slower speed than the speed limit!

Why is it that no one drives at the speed limit? Everyone is rushing all the time! Like if I go 50km/h- 55km/h and stay in the right lane, still i get drivers under my tail/ and or lane changing to the left then quickly cutting me off to go change to the right lane.

When I did my test I stayed between 45 KM and 50 KM and still passed but I didn’t do 45 KM all the time

Here in Ontario, Canada, the driver tester will fail you if you exceed the speed limit by even ONE km/hr.

Great video. I don’t know from where you are playing the video.now let get the facts straight. The percentage can be confusing. Here is the deal for New York City and I am confident this may apply almost every where. If the wheather condition is ideal, you can go up to 5 miles above the speed limit on your Roadtest with no issue. However, you can’t go 5 miles below the speed limit on your Roadtest that will consider driving too slow/ impeding traffic you will fail. For instance if 25 miles is the speed the threshold will be between 25/30 no more no Less. Unless of bad weather conditions. Driving is already confusing when you are taking a Roadtest the last thing you need to is guessing what to do on your Roadtest. We need facts to go by so you can build some confidence. Thank you.
