Not often do you see what happens to the mother plant after pruning it...so in this video I show what to expect after you chop up a plant.

If anyone is interested in Hoyas, last summer I had a Hoya with a single vine growing up on a rope. The top of the plant split into two vines, so I decided to repot it. While I was repotting it, the tip broke off and I was a bit sad. I knew it would grow back eventually, so I propagated the other cutting. Then something really cool happened: the mother plant activated not one or two nodes, but seven (!) individual nodes. They don't all grow at the same rate, but I have a much prettier plant now. That's when I realized I need more Hoyas.

If @techplant and you ever decide to do a podcast, please call it "between two nodes"

Happy Sunday. Great job by your daughter making the tie dye t-shirt. With the pinkish red on top you can see her girly touch.

Hi Jeff. I have not done this myself but I've seen Sydney the plant guy do it in almost the same way you did with chopping the top off the moss pole, except he will make multiple cuts above nodes. He usually does this with the bottom half before he does a prop and chop. Usually, above every node that he makes a cut he gets a new growth. So instead of having two or three new growth near the top of your pool, like in your example, he's got five six or seven along the whole length of the pole. I plan on doing this at some point. But I've been lazy....for about 2 years, lol.

This came just in time, I want to cut off the top of a Philodendron Tahiti, and I wasn't sure what can happen after, so this is great. Great video really showing what it does. Thank you.

Hi Jeff, your channel just popped up and I am so glad! Your really helpful video just showed me some mistakes I've made trying to propagate satin pothos and philodendron brasil - now I understand, thank you! Your explanation and clear step by step video on taking cuttings properly has made much more sense than other videos I've seen. Thank you so much, from near Loch Lomond, Scotland 😊

I recently chopped a Golden Pothos that was a single vine that had branched once or twice. I planted 6 cuttings directly back in the pot to fill it out and have numerous cuttings in water and a prop box. I think I have roots on the ones in the soil but no new growth yet. No roots yet in the water or in the prop box

Love the monstera siltepecana (sp?), I have a very slow growing peru that just doesn't want to prop.

Your channel just popped up on my YouTube. I have subscribed. I love my plants but have a purple thumb 🙃😛! Your tips are a life saver. I have a lot of spider plants that a friend gave me, they are the babies that grow off of the main plant, I've been lucky and they are growing nicely. I am worried about my bamboo. It was small when I got her and she grew astronomically in water, but now I've noticed that her leaves are turning yellow. She is very long and just has that tuft of leaves at the very top. I am planning on taking her out of the bottle and replanting her in dirt. The bottle I have her in now is a dark brown and she has grown so much I will have to break the bottle because her roots are too big to fit through the neck of the bottle. I hope she will be OK, she is the first plant that I have ever had any luck with.
