I do circuits for cardio. Never getting close to failure on lower body movements, and I won't do them back to back. The order of exercises will be something like deadlifts, rows, upright rows, squats, overhead presses. To save time and keep my heartrate high I sometimes do everything with a single bar, in this case the weight would be somewhat challenging for overhead presses. Say 10RM for overhead presses, do everything 5 reps for at least 10 giant sets, every week increase reps until I can complete 10 reps for all sets, increase the weight and repeat. It may work some for upper body hypertrophy, but not challenging for lower body. My goal is to do as many sets as possible with mininum rest. It is a break from running I do most frequently for cardio. Exhausting my upper body with circuits while taking a break makes sense. I couldn't take an extra leg session anyway.

Leg extensions 4x10 2 second pause triple drop set last set 60 second rest

Leg press with a v 4x12 4 second eccentric 60 second rest

3x15 Abductor/ adductor superset no rest

Calf raises 4 sets til failure 60 second rest

Hamstring curls 4x10 last set +20 partials 60 second rest

I imagine being jacked for decades makes one open to variety. He doesn't need maximum hypertrophy in every workout.

What about a circuit that's like: biceps, triceps, chest, shoulders for an upper day? 3 sets of each, 3 circuits.

Makes training less boring and keeps him where he needs to be. He could be more optimal but good job anyway.

I'm thinkin if I'm rich like the rock I go with the one leg machine to avoid imbalances. But straight sets totally seems smarter

Why not ? Switch it up and doing the same shit just gets boring so variation does makes it easier to get through the workout

I do think for a guy like the rock who's very advanced has "help" is a older guy and probably isn't getting bigger and some injuries. Something like this makes sense it still keeps the muscle mass on and is some fun variation
