I was born and raised most of my life in a southern US state, and currently live in Austin TX. But I worked and lived in Queens NY for around 10 years before moving away. New York City become home to me and I will always love NYC. I love the diversity and culture in NYC and New Yorkers are great people. Manhattan is nice and theres great things about all of the boroughs, but Queens is where my heart is. I consider myself a New Yorker at heart and my dream is to move back there soon. I ❤ NY!

I grew up in Astoria Broadway and Crescent, we used to ride our bikes to Roosevelt Island back in the early 90's. Astoria is one of if not the most safest neighborhoods in all of NYC till this day.

The diversity in New York is one of the most amazing thing about the city, in my opinion

I now live in Staten Island for my job and it’s actually a great place, contrary to popular belief. It’s generally a lot more laid back with a lower cost of living and is still easily accessible to Manhattan and Brooklyn by bus and ferry. Also to add, the NYC Ferry system is opening a new stop directly next to the Staten Island ferry that will take you to midtown Manhattan directly making it even more convenient.

Hi John
As a Brooklynite . Yes NYC including the 5 boroughs is expensive. Shopping, driving, rentals, everything. But where I live in Sheepshead Bay the fishing is and it can be expensive but I like fishing off the boats.
We also get Severe Weather in the Spring and Summer. Last week afew of those nasty Thunderstorms rolled over Brooklyn. Sheepshead Bay is safe that I go Shopping or returning bottles and cans at night ( not too late) and also go fishing at night. It depends on where people live or visit and yes those trendy neighborhoods can be really expensive.

I moved from Florida to NYC for a year, seven years have passed, every winter I say that I am leaving but the problem is that I'm caught up in the hype 😂

I am a city person, and I knew it even as a child. I have lived in small towns and islands and been bored to death, at 11 y/o, go figure. I now live in the biggest city in my country and enjoy it. I would love to live in NYC, its vibrancy, its diversity and the speed of life feels me with energy. Although, it is way too expensive for me to afford it, especially being retired...and I probably wouldn't survive a winter, either, I'm too tropical for anything below 50 degrees, hahaha. I'm lucky enough to have a dear cousin, almost a brother, who lives in Manhattan and I visited with him frequently, pre-pandemic. I even got to spend a whole month there, four years ago and had a great time. Hope to do it again soon, it is the next best thing.

Love NYC, but only as a tourist.

Any major city on a scale the same as New York would be expensive, but it's still is a great place to go.

Great video Jon, was it done in a rush 😂

Love this video! # 1 is rightfully # 1. NYC has a heart beat and it’s pumping energy and vibes all throughout the streets. It’s something that can’t even be explained. Although I’ve only visited twice, I am addicted and can say that out of every major city I’ve visited, none of them “felt” like NYC.

I’m autistic and have sensory issues but if I just train myself to be used to it, I’ll be good. Plus in some areas, I’ll just walk around with noise cancelling headphones. With every problem, there’s a solution.

The diversity doesn’t really worry me. l have lived in London where there are hundreds of nationalities and the consequent massive range of dining options really shows up as a benefit. I guess the same applies to New York. I do look forward to the Cheap Eats videos because that is where you get to try new cuisines.

I want to be a filmmaker and NYC's film industry is second only to Hollywood, which is currently just pumping out remakes, reboots and superhero movies. I also noticed that it checks the most boxes and in many instances does so better than most other cities. I've also considered branching out into other business ventures after I begin to make enough cash.

I’ve lived in London for years so high rent isn’t new to me, I love diversity and bright lights and noise, I don’t drive, and I don’t (won’t) have kids. Sounds like NY could be my perfect city.

Man this so confirms my already set in stone move back there in Spring/Summer 2022! Number one for me is I HATE driving and it now causes panic attacks. I am so ready to get rid of my cute lil Nissan. 2. I love diversity it is everything to me. 3. It will just be me and my 5lb dog since my son will be off to college. 4. I love being single and am not looking to get married. 5. Don't love the snow or cold but am originally from Michigan so I can handle it. I currently live in San Diego and really only like the weather. Thanks for the video and reassuring that NYC is my city!

I was just in NYC yesterday. Best city on earth. Culture, food, ambiance, diversity, nature in the parks. The list is endless. As a fellow New Jerseyan, we know the hype is real. Great video!

I am from the largest coldest city in the world so New York is a walk in the park as far as weather goes! I was there in February and was walking around in a sweatshirt for almost the whole trip!
