Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Pixel 6 Pro: We've come a LONG way! 🤩

In any kind of long-term endeavor, you often don't realize how far you've come until you look back at where you were.

When Google launched the Pixel 6 Pro in late 2021, it was a major break with previous generations of Pixel. A new look, in both hardware and software. New Google silicon under the hood. And the first big camera tech upgrade in years.

Flash forward to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and despite some lingering visual similarities it *already* feels a world apart from its three-year-old predecessor, with a sharper, flatter design and new experience built for the age of AI.

So it's time to dig into what's new in the Pixel 9 Pro XL and also see how it measures up to the phone that I suspect quite a few Pixel fans will be upgrading from, the 6 Pro.

I'm finally upgrading from my Pixel 6 Pro to the 9 Pro. Just waiting for the new phone to arrive in the mail!

Holding onto my 6 pro for now. I love that every little thing has been upgraded, and every "issue" with the 6 pro has been addressed.

Except, I don't have any major issues with my 6 pro (aside from a dying screen). I look forward to upgrading to the 10 pro next year, even if the tmsc chip is way overhyped.

I like the new design but I cannot see a good reason to update from my Pixel 6 non-pro to a 9. The AI stuff looks barely useful, Gemini is sectioned up with paywalls with lots of different versions which has no interoperability between them. The cameras are good on the 9 but the 6 is also just fine for me still. My phone's battery is also okay for now. There's no updates here that's worth £900. I'll hold out for at least the Pixel 10 when they've got a non-exynos SOC. I'd consider a Fold but I know it could be difficult to step away from a folding phone later on.

This video is perfect. I went from Nexus 6P to Pixel 2 to Pixel 6 Pro XL (current phone). Finally time for another upgrade and I got the 9 Pro Fold in my sights lol

I really don't think it's a 'world apart''... software gimmickry, a new design ultimately are not super solid changes.

it sucks that the software is being limited on the older phones. I'm satisfied with the speed of the 6 pro.

Thanks for the video, still on the fence, I know it's a upgrade however in my opinion for my needs and lifestyle it's not a huge leap forward. Great video once again.

Coming from the pixel 6 pro myself, I've spent just about a day with the new 9 pro. If you're on the fence about it, don't be. This is a absolutely massive upgrade and everything he describes is extremely obvious when you're using the new device.

I'm still rocking my Pixel 6 with no reason to upgrade so far

I still have my Pixel 4a, 6 Pro and now the 9 Pro XL and do agree with everything here. I tried the samsung s23+ for awhile and overall it was good but I hated having to deal with Samsung's extra stuff on top of Google's. I couldn't wait to get back to core functions like call screening and the like. Over time I started noticing some more frequent stuttering from my 6 pro and the battery is starting to show it's age a bit. I will still pull it out from time to time and let it do updates, but I'm keeping it. I tried dabbling in some custom ROMs on it which was nice to try but it's nice to go back to stock.
