Leave alone the massive processor power difference, any flagship base model that cost over $1, 000 should not be having anything less than 256GB storage in 2024. It's just a rip off.

So for all the people who don't seem to understand how most consumers work, let me break it down real quick. Most consumers are not buying these high-end phones to use them to the up most of their ability. Maybe they take a cool slow-mo video here, make a tik tok there, etc but most of the time they're probably just going to be streaming or scrolling social media.

Is the tensor worse than the snapdragon? Yes, but it doesn't really matter so long as the day-to-day usage of the pixel is on par with that of its competitors. It doesn't matter what tech enthusiasts think should be included in a flagship or not cuz at the end of the day most consumers are not tech enthusiast. So long as it feels snappy, takes nice pictures, and has a quality display, most people will be happy with that experience. That is all that most people really expect out of a flagship phone.

Best Buy had a deal where I paid absolutely nothing for the Pixel 9 Pro XL by trading in my S24 Ultra. The trade-in value was 1099 for the Ultra. So, the phone was free. I didn't even pay tax. On top of that, I got a $200 gift card and I used that to buy the Pixel Watch 3 45mm and traded in my Pixel Watch 2 (which was free with my Pixel 8 Pro order) for $220. Ended up paying like $20 for the watch. I couldn't pass it up for that price, but I have no delusion that I got a better phone for the same money. The S24 Ultra has more value and is, arguably, a better phone overall. I was just bored with mine and wanted to give Pixel another try.

Honestly, any phone costing over $999 should be a complete package. You shouldn't have to compromise on performance, especially for such a high price. It should excel at gaming, multitasking, and everyday tasks. This is where Samsung and Apple consistently deliver.
Pixel UI is undoubtedly one of the best software experiences, but overheating and lagging are unacceptable at this price point. While Google has partially addressed the heating issue this generation, it's still a concern. Using UFS 3.1 in a phone this expensive is simply outdated.
UFS 4.1 is more efficient, leading to lower temperatures and faster performance. It improves overall responsiveness and reduces the strain on the processor. Google needs to step up their game with the tensor G5. I don't anticipate a price drop anytime soon, so it's essential to get top-tier hardware for your money, which is what Samsung and Apple consistently offer.

I have considered jumping ship from Samsung to Google many times, but I am always 100% happy with what Samsung releases each year. They are a more mature and experienced hardware manufacturer with many excellent and innovative devices under their belt. Google have had many quality control issues in the past (Samsung have had a few of course but generally they are more reliable and fixed quickly). The Pixel 9 Pro XL has an iPhone look about it, something which always puts me off.

Most users really never use the SoCs in their phones to their full capabilities - phones have now become so good that you can't go wrong with any of them. It's purely a subjective, preferential choice of every individual.

Im not saying that the Pixel is better than the samsung, but personally to me its all about the software experience. I love the stock android google experience over the samsung. Its just different and amazing for daily use. Its simple and elegant. Although the S24 is an absolute powerhouse, the Pixel takes the win for me just because of that unique Google experience.

Got the Pixel 9 XL and had it for 2 days and went back to the Samsung S24 ultra. There truly is no comparison. Google still has a lot of catching up to do. Also, I was able to get a 512gb S24 ultra on sale for the same price as a 256GB Pixel 9 pro XL. No brainer.

Nowhere near my S24U after I tried the pixel at a retail store. W/O the Gemini Advance, it's just another Andriod phone. From S24U, u can also have ChatGPT and/or Gemini, so why a Pixel with lower performance in all ways for such a price .

I've been using the S24 ultra since launch and its a great phone. However just got the pixel 9 pro xl yesterday and it's so much nicer..for an every day user. The UI is so pretty, compared to samsungs one ui. The apps run better, fingerprint scanner on point (Samsung will always fail for some reason), display is brighter and colors seems better balanced. It really is true, google optimized the crap out of the software to conpliment the hardware. The pixel is also more comfortable to hold in the hand. I do miss the anti reflective coating but that coating makes colors look more washed. The s24 scrolling is a bit more smoother. The S24 ultra is a great phone, but im never going back to Samsung with so many bloatware and two apps for everything, it's annoying.
