Literally the last memory that existed in his crumbling mind was Mabel and Dipper :(

Imagine being an interdimentional creature and yet still being fooled by an identical twin.

That look on Ford's face when he finishes erasing Stan...it's him finally realizing just what Stan's been going through for the last thirty years.

Did anyone else notice the small detail that when Grunkle Stan was pretending to be Ford you could kind of tell it was him because his voice was more gruff??

This reminds me of when my grandpa had Alzheimer's years ago.
He had that same lost expression on his face, and he forgot who his family was.

I always love how this is Stan's first time facing Bill on his own and he handles the situation like it's nothing

I like how he considers his mind weak and a waste. which was clear and focused the void. his brother's mind couldn't fight bill off, and when they searched his memories everyone freaked but Stan literally altered his memory enough to tell dipper that they can do anything there. his mind was considered nothing but a waste yet...

What I love about this...
It's subtle. It represents death without actually showing real physical death. The mental death of a character that's important to this show.
Bravo writers. You found a way around censorship. I don't believe actual physical death can be shown in children's programming.
This is an amazing unpredicted way around the censorship and it's all the more emotionally invoking. Seriously, Hands up, applause, and bravo.

The fact that Stan used his skills as a con artist to defeat Bill is excellent writing.

I know it sounds stupid, but I related to Stan a lot in this scene. In my family I'm pm known as a fuck up. I had bad grades in school because I messed around, and I used to get into trouble a lot. But ever since my (twin) nieces were born, I've never felt so good about myself. Not to sound big headed, but when they tell me they love me and seeing them run towards me in excitement makes me feel like I'm not such a fuck up anymore. So needless to say that when this scene happened, I bawled my eyes out.

When you think about how Stan spent his entire life trying to be something and to amount to his twin brother and it gets to the part where his memory is being wiped completely and says "Guess I was good for something after all". He saves the world and doesn't even know it. That hit deep. Never cried so hard in a while 😥😭

No matter how many times I see this scene, I always get teary eyed when Mabel tries to talk to him, and Stan doesn't even know who she is. When Mable says "Grunkle Stan c-come on...its me! Grunk Stan!" then she tries to hug him as Dipper pulls her away. Then the little animation of Mabel shaking her head in disbelief as Ford tells her that Stan's memories are gone....god screw getting teary eyed, I full on cry at that scene, not ashamed to admit. I think its because that scene is so relatable and real, that the viewer can just feel the emotion in it. Also, to me anyway, Stan and Mabel have a much closer and stronger relationship then Stan has with Dipper

Can we just emphasize on how fucking massive this sacrifice was for Stanley?

30 years worth of fighting. 30 years of hard work and sweat to bring back his brother.

It he was going to lose it all. Everything he had fought for and loved was going to wiped out.

Everyone called Stanley a selfish jerk, but by far, the selfish jerk was willing to make the biggest sacrifice.

Not gonna lie, seeing Stan unable to recognize his family _HURT_ ... it doesn't help that I've had to deal with elderly relatives having dementia/Alzheimer's in my own life...

the last of his lines is so fucking good "heh guess i was good for something after all" it hits so hard because his whole life he was told that he was a failure by his mom dad the school and was in a horrible financial situation at one point and to hear him say that he was worth something is everything to me
