The small detail of Stan sighing and then turning around with a showman's voice is so heartbreaking

at 1:53 in the bottom left corner, you can see Physic text books. That means Stan actually sat down and tried to teach him self physics. A man that cheated and flunked all through highschool actually sat down to try and learn physics just get his brother back.

Anyone else noticed the teenagers outside the shop? They are the same guys who gave those old people heart attack! I love these small details

I do love that Stan made himself employee of the month, but after Soos joined the staff he was made employee of the year instead of Stan still just giving it to himself.

I really love Stan's tragic character development in this season as a whole. All because of one mistake he was disowned by his family, lost his only friend to travel the world alone spending a good portion of it in prison til he eventually has to fake his own death and sever all connections completely. He was Stanford for over 30 years and now he may lose that. Good stuff.

The only thing I question is whether or not Dipper and Mabel were never told about Stanley by their grand mother (Stan and Ford's sister) because of the disownment or because he was (killed) in a car crash.

This scene is where I connected with Grunkle Stan the most.

Explains why Stan runs away when he brings up her eye on a date.

watching this made me realize that you can see physics and science textbooks in the bottom left at 1:52, implying that stan went out of his way to learn something way outside of his area of expertise just to understand what ford was doing so he could presumably read and comprehend his notes, and properly operate the portal.

Summary: Stan got angry at Stan because Stan ruined Stans' chance to get into a good school, but Stan didn't want Stan to leave Stan but Stan wanted to go. So Stan got angry at Stan and Stan was forced to leave Stan. Then a while later Stan invited Stan to come to Stan but only to get away from Stan, so Stan was angry at Stan again and Stan didn't want to leave Stan so Stan and Stan got into a fight and Stan accidentally pushed Stan into Stan's machine so Stan was trying to help Stan come back.

The only reason stan wants money so much its because his dad made him that way

It's touching/tragic how he invested 30 year's worth in sweat blood and tears to getting that portal running again, but he did kind of endanger the universe, and it could be said that he ultimately really profited from having his brother out of the picture and having this opportunity to throw off his debtors, so there's a lot of ambiguity to it all.

It was great that they showed Stan really cares about his employees and gave Soos Employee of the Year

I could feel the sadness in the words "stan… Ford. Stanford pines"

Looking back, I wonder how the Pines Parents coped with all this: the last time they saw Stanley was when they threw him out when he was like 18 (?), didn't hear a word from him in ten years until the news of his "death" in car accident. Then there's Stanford who went away to study and live at the other side of the US map, as he probably didn't keep in touch that much considering how absorbed and busy he was with his research. And when Stanley assumed his brother's identity, I wonder if he ever went to their parents' funeral... probably not, 'cause their parents would have recognized him, I'm sure. And if that's the case, how freaking sad is that?

I like to think that they regretted throwing Stan for the rest of their lives, that they wished he would come back home no matter how successful or poorly he did. That they were probably devastated at the news of his death, so much that even Mr Pines' "tough guy act"would have crumbled apart for once. And I can easily picture Mrs Pines (and her husband too actually) doting on Shermie to compensate for everything they've done wrong. I believe Shermie must have been the only link between their parents and brothers for a long time.

About Shermie Pines, it has always bothered me that he was barely mentioned in the whole show. Dipper and Mabel never talked about him at all, and the Stan twins never talked about seeing him again. It made me feel that he was either dead by the time (or waaay before) Mabel and Dipper went to Gravity Falls, or maybe, hopefully, he's alive and well and lives close to them in California. But I don't believe in the latter that much: too good to be true.

What do you guys think? (Thanks and good job for reading this far!)

It’s crazy to think that everyone was wholesome prior to Stan’s arrival
