I used to talk to him, had the vase nicely decorated and clean...I was homeless and lil'foot was always with me everywhere I went...my cousin used to make fun of me cause I had him with me always...he lasted 6 years and he got to see me get an apartment get my life together....that lil fish kept me happy and made me happy to see him looking at me is like they know....❤

Nice to know I'm not the only one who keeps their dogs inside a fish tank

I'm so glad to hear someone else say how cruel Betas are treated. It makes me crazy to see them in those tiny little containers! Thanks for all the great info.

Started my Beta in a 3 gal tank, moved him up to a 5 gal tank in a little less than a week. Just went out and got him a 55 gal tank it takes up the entire side of my apartment.

I regret nothing.

Had an fish store OWNER look at me like I was nuts when I said my betta had personality and I could tell because I kept him in a 6 gallon tank instead of a jar.

Honest: I got a Betta from Petco in 2006 and I was 5 years old. Had it in a 5 gallon for 10 years! And it lived a spacious and happy life! From 2006-2016!!! Give proper care and it can really happen!❤️🐟

I remember when I was younger I had an amazing red female betta fish named Claire. She had a huge personality for a fish. She was also extremely smart. My seven year old self managed to teach her several tricks, and when I walked into the room she was in she always would get excited and jump above the water. She sadly passed away after 6 years of having her. After years without another fish I got another betta around 9 months ago. His name is Phil Ravioli Swift (haha) and he’s a blue male. He’s living a good life. RIP Claire 💗

One of my college friends had a betta fish for eight years. Sadly, he passed away last month and my friend was devastated. But she knew her fish lived a long, yet happy life.

It's really too bad that males can't cohabitate. Imagine a school of males, what a beautiful site that would be! People would buy them by the dozens.

You both taught me a lot about my fish I hate to admit but I was one of those people who thought a beta fish was fine in a goldfish bowl. After watching this video I actually bought aquarium for my beta I’m excited. Thank you again for teaching me the right way to treat my fish.

Hi! I work at a pet store and I want to let you know the reason we keep bettas in cups. The reason is that they are bought within 1-3 days of us getting them and any bettas who are with us longer than 5 days (which is very rare) will get a 3 or 5 gallon tank to themself :) we also make sure whenever anyone buys a betta that they get a 3 gallon tank or larger and a heater.

Bettas are very abused in the hobby. I normally keep mine in a 10 g, but my latest Betta lives in a 20 long with caves and plants and a lot of hiding places. He's extremely happy !! Great video !

Thank I've been taking care of bettas for 6 months now and my family doesn't understand why I'm "treating them like royalty." No matter how many times I explain it, they simply don't understand that the decorations I get for them, the filters I spend weeks choosing, the medicines I buy, even some toys (like the mirror one) are so that my babies can live and not just survive. "BuT tHeY'rE jUsT fIsH" yeah okay, but it's also a living creature that I have taken into my care. Not my fault that I can see these little fishies as my babies and love them like they were any other animal.

Can confirm: I own a wedding venue, and someone left a betta after using it as a centerpiece for a party. I watched this because I have adopted the little guy in the accounting department: Bob from Accounting.

My kid’s school had a fair two years ago and one of the booths gave away tiny goldfish as a prize. Needless to say my kids came home with 4 tiny goldfish.
Fast forward 2yrs later and those 4 fish are still alive and are currently in a 36gal aquarium. Fun fact, our 4 fish are the only ones to survive longer than a month. All the other parents I know who took home fish said theirs died within the month (some within the week). It made me sad because I know most of those goldfish were tossed into a fish bowl.
Goldfish aren’t my favorites to keep, but I refuse to condemn them to a miserable life. It’s not hard to do the right thing, do a little research, and have a quality setup that won’t break the bank.
These 4 goldfish did jumpstart my interest in having a freshwater tropical tank. We are finally at the part where we can buy the fish and introduce them to our second 36gal tank. I also blame quarantine for my sudden interest in keeping fish. (And my son’s terrible allergies to all things furry)
