How bad is Wuthering Waves' game optimization?

its very bad, but lets wait for updates

slight correction at 1:36 its supposed to say "Unreal Engine 4" not "Unity Engine 4"

as of May 30, the developers have pushed 21 updates, trying to make the game experience much better

Although Genshin run on Unity, they run on modified Unity engine to conform the Genshin's requirement as open-world game (I read this somewhere from Chinese's social website, but I can't find the source).

Just some partial fact, Unity engine DO NOT LIKE open-world game compare to another engine like UE4 or UE5, in some extent, Source 2. While it is not entirely impossible to make open-world game in Unity, but it take TON of effort and optimization just to make it work compare to UE4 (also the reason why ToF and Wuwa used this engine instead of Unity). There is a reason why most open-world game developer pick UE engine compare to Unity apart from graphical requirement. However, Hoyoverse did a good job on opimization and gonna give credit where it due. Otherwise, Genshin would run way worse compare to Wuwa.

You may say, is Wuwa lazy on optimizing prior to the launch? On some extent maybe because they run through 3 test (Technical, CBT1, CBT2) and still lagging, but remember this is their first time developing this kind of game, and their first time using Unreal Engine, maybe give them some times to optimize it.

This may come as a nerd, but it has been explained by CN community than Wuwa's bad optimization was coming from unproperly managed RAM allocation known as memory leaking (basically using your ram more than needed).

I'll wait for the optimizations updates, i played quite a bit and loved every second of it. But i think i'll enjoy it properly after they fix the optimization issues!

Idk it’s taking them a while to fix these issues. I have a pc with decent specs and can run literally anything smooth, but this game just has such terrible optimization, it makes me frustrated when I see the massive frame drops and choppiness when playing and that is why I don’t want to play that much. I really want to get into the game more but it’s just so damn choppy at times

i can run rdr 2 on 120 fps, gtav modded with shaders and ghost of tsushima at 60 fps but i cannot run this at costant 30 fps

I also got a lot of issues on day 1. Overheating, Lag, High ping (Probably cuz too much people) and low game performance.

On day 7, I don't have many issues. My phone got overheating but it's slower than before.

Besides, i never got issues when playing on PC...so yea. Idk how terrible is everyone PC.

Problem? Already at launch the servers have fluctuating ping, it is literally impossible to get past the battle tutorial boss...
In a future update, the developer could add options to disable unnecessary gadgets, such as Blur

When i launch in the world it takes 20 seconds for the game to stop stuttering but even then i find myself having lag spikes due to high ping even tho im in the right server, plus i have a good pc. Overall its a 7/10 experience imo.

I've seen comments saying it's already optimized but mine still lags

How can you decease your resolution? I edited the .ini file but it's not working, the game forces it to be 1280 x 720 on launch

I'm playing on the s23 and I can only play highest graphical setting with 45 fps. If i put it on 60 fps it will still be playable but a little bit choppy.

I can play genshin on its highest setting, 60fps no problem.

They should really improve optimization

I hope project mugen is not laggy as it is.

It's running well on my potato phone though Galaxy A03 4+4Ram Unisoc t606 and the game does not crash. My settings are all on very low except for the Fps at 30. With the recent patches the game got smoother and much faster loading. Only problem is that when I play for like an hour, the game will start to lag which I THINK the Ram usage of the game is building up so I have to re-open the game to make it smooth again. As for disconnecting issues it's a me issue cuz I have crappy internet (Mobile Data) but after the patches I've been hitting green pings more cuz my ping always fluctuates at red ping before so I think they're doing a great job optimizing the game. sorry for some grammar errors 😅.

nah its memory leak thats killing the game plus some thing is wrong with the code of low end settings, the game stutters more at lowest setting that max setting.

Idk if it's because of the game, but my phone's battery drains fast when playing.

Now 1600*900 run higher frame rate than 1366*768 idk what to say.😅

I thought I made a post about, but maybe links are not allowed.

A friend of mine did a recent poll on the WuWa subreddit on how badly the poor optimization was affecting people. The results roughly breakdown to:

38% Players with no problems at all
39% Have issues but can still play
23% Could not play at all

It's not as bad as some who thought the "Can't play at all" was the majority, but Kuro clearly still has a lot of work to do.

Note that the current situation might actually be better than this, since the users who were unable to play early on and voted as such, might not have tried again after Kuro made their myriad of updates and quick-fixes during the past week.

PGR use Unity game engine while WuWa use Unreal Engine, we all know unreal engine is bad for mobile phones. Btw my phone can run Genshin in Max graphics 60fps while in WuWa even in lowest graphics it's struggling to run smoothly. in short u can enjoy wuwa in PC's.
