Some important notes & corrections:
- Boss echos are NOT limited to a maximum of 5 per day, only the guaranteed drops are. After those you have the usual 20% chance. I apparently just cannot read. Sorry for that!
- I have farmed some more echos, average 3 cost chance to get ER is now around 7.25%, but again low sample size. Don't read too much into it

Thanks for pointing these critical flaws out hopefully kuro games can fix these issues going forward, it would be really sad to see them mess up the game at launch.

There's a lot of ways they can go on improving their echo system, but the most balanced one that I can think of would still retain some over world grinding, cause 0 grinding means just like on the other game a completed area becomes useless if there's 0 stuff to do there.

I think they should implement a re-roll system, introduce a farmable or purchasable item using ingame currency that can change sub stats, most preferably if we can sell/dismantle unwanted echoes and use the by-product to buy said stat reroll item and they should increase the no. of monsters in the overworld to sustain the selling/dismantling of unwanted echoes.

Doing it that way means, players would still farm for echoes with the best main stats and set bonuses while still making hunting in the overworld useful, all the while cutting the stress of getting unwanted sub stats knowing you can eventually change it and slowly build your desired stats for a specific echo specially for those 4 cost ones

A few minor things to point out:

The first 5 echoes you get per week already have a enhanced drop rate of up to 100% depending on the terminal level.

Echoes which you've already levelled up can be fed directly into other echoes to level up.

Elite and Boss Echoes always have attack as a fixed main stat.

People hate on genshin for certain things because it doesn’t cater to them but I don’t think they realize that just because WW seems better for you doesn’t mean it’s better overall for all people in fact definitely will not be. It cannot cater to everyone WW doesn’t cater to casual players as much.

I knew this was going to happen... Ever since Genshin other companies were going to try and copy the model while distinguishing themselves in some superficial ways. But the core is always going to be retarding progression to incentivize spending.

Commenting 5 days after lanuch. The game is still grindy af. Union lvl 30, Databank: 16, killed over 50 mobs just to get 6 echos and 1 5 star echo. The rate is same as cbt 2. Even at current max databank the echo droprate is 20%. Hope they increase it in future.

Is there a good reason to assume this is a "release" mechanic meant to slow progression/power gains so players don't max everything in a few weeks, burnout, and quit? So many Gachas do that these days and then open up accessibility after the first couple months

You're very underrated. What I love about this video is you actually provide evidence through your sample size instead of claiming stuff because you "feel like it" as do many CCs and you get to the point without dragging the video out. That saying...I thought it was only 1 substat, not 1 every 5 levels...damn, that makes it even worse than I thought cuz I was fine taking 1 main stat rng and 1 substat rng. It reminds me of Genshin's artifact system, but I much rather be able to grind artifacts to get the right substats without being timegated by resin and have the exp timegated behind resin. One good thing about the echo system is that it gives you reason to re-explore old areas, whereas I re-explore old areas in Genshin to farm artifact exp fodder through investigative points.

I agree. I think the one solution is to let absord other echoes with max level and choose a subs stat from the absorbed echo with RNG values (of course) depends on the rarity of the echo. It's like the accessories system of Tales of Arise but the values with range RNG. I think that would balance between RNG and Grinding.

Honestly, I always hated RNG gear. In any game.

It’s why I like Reverse 1999’s system. Although mat drops may be random, they aren’t too bad and once you get the mats, the gear leveling is standardized.

It still allows customization by giving you stats blocks you can assign to a “tree”. You have to choose which stats to use because you have limited space on the tree. Everyone has the same stat pool at the same level, but you can still alter it to your playstyle.

Another idea you havent mentioned is if the give echos during event. And then maybe they could add some sort of reroll mechanics on the sub stats to offset how grindy it is.

I have faith in them but yea i could totally see this not being fun for some

They need to add more game modes/endgame content. Two non stamina required modes where one is geared towards casuals where you can farm echoes and bosses specifically, with a leaderboard for fastest clears, and another for hardcore players where you’re rewarded for style, such as dodging, parrying, and completing a ‘no hit’ run, which gives your certain materials and upgrades the higher your score/less damage you take

perhaps making extra echos as the mat for substats and adding substat specific enemies like hoartoise gives only health and def while fast enemies mov spd crit chance?

i think... tunning mats should be use to reroll substats too, so after u find the corrent main stat piece on the openworld, then u go to the daily gacha chore of login... burn the stamina/energy then logout.
